I am interested in your train of thought, what kind of trade do you think Capitals would need to be top 5 in the east? Maybe a top tier goalie in the NHL? I was already ruling in the following teams as top five:

1. Boston
2. Penguins
3. Red Wings
4. Ottawa
5. Toronto

That first line for Russia might be the most ridiculous thing we will ever see with Malkin and Ovechkin and ??? (Datsyuk?). Should be entertaining in DC this year.

I would agree but I am not so sure Ovi and Geno get along very well. Ovi and Kovalchuk would be deadly too.

Ovechkin is in my opinion the most exciting player to come to the NHL since Mario. I was worried that Grapes would be right when he said Ovie would burn himself out with his explosive play but he has been remarkably durable. I still feel Crosby is the more complete player, and when he's healthy more dangerous, but Sid's injury concerns have put Ovie in front when it comes to franchise player comparisons.

He's still only 27, many more good years ahead and still a point+ per game player. If he becomes a better two way player and puts the teams' success ahead of his own, the Caps will make the playoffs. Ovi needs to play more like a Datsyuk or Bergeron.
