The lockout and the pressure to win did in the relationship.

Maybe this is a little simplistic, but although these guys are pros, I still think players play better when they are enjoying the game. I think Torts was perfect for the team after Renney, and the players were able to put up with the physical and mental stress that came with playing under Torts because they were successful. I think that eventually grows old, however, and last year, neither Richards, not many players on that team looked like they were having any fun. One can say, live with, their professionals, but for large portions of last year, they just seemed like they were playing joyless, uninspired hockey. Indeed, there best game of the year was that Pitt game, when they god of infusion of guys from outside of the organization.

Torts is a great coach, IMO, but I don't think he will be able to stick anywhere more than 4-5 years if he doesn't learn a lighter touch (at times).

Fully agree here. I said the same thing about their best game was when the newcomers weren't Tortolized yet.

Agreed Pete, he's not too different than Keenan, who couldn't last anywhere nearly as long as Torts has.

Some offer sheet speculation on Cody Franson. Anything above $3.3 mil pretty sure Tor would take the 1rst rnd pick. Anything under...match.

speculating Carolina, but Isles would make sense. There has to be a point where you say as an Islander fan, how many prospects do we need? The cupboard is stacked, start getting aggressive.

Isles should talk to Toronto, maybe give up a mid level prospect or something to them.

Latest word on the streets is that stepan is okay with a bridge deal but they're still far apart on money.

I think it was an awful year for Richards period. Torts gave up on him, and that only added to his pain. You're right, they spend so much time together over the course of a season, it's no wonder a guy like Torts wears thin.

This should be done already, terrible we're still talking about it. The kid was your number 1 center stop busting his balls and offer around 3.5 a year already. It's only going to come back and haunt him when Stepan has some more leverage next contract and him and his agent go for the jugular or sign a high offer sheet to force his hand.

Franson is worth more than a mid level prospect. He's only 26 and if you were trading for him you be paying more than 2.5 million, probably.

"Derek wants to be a Ranger" "We like Derek, we want him here" It's all BS, the only sentence that made any sense and is true, he's a young player and needs to be in camp. This is gonna get old very quickly.
