Dumb move trading him when Barrie and elliott werent ready yet and you were suppose to have Shattenkirk taking his role but we trade him a few months later anyways for Johnson....ugh

He hasn't been the same player since the concussion IMHO. But that does coincide with a coaching change in Toronto as well.
I don't mind Liles, but I don't see him getting the ice time under Carlyle, and the Leafs need the cap space. |

Because its not like Liles is bad, hes acctualy decent compared to whats left on FA....problem is hes over priced and the leafs have developed to many players with similar skill set at cheap cost, so hes been riding the press box. This is an opportunity for everyone leafs get a measly 5th while carolina gets a good puck mover with something to prove, and with there guy going on LTIR they got the cash |

I always love fans trying to sell players they want traded. They are all great players when on the trading block, but suck when they are still on the team.

personally i dont think liles sucks, but we have better options in Gardiner and franson, hes wasted on the 3rd pairing and he costs to much. I dont hate his play or his style, im talking business and it would be good business for the leafs to toss him up for say a 5th even,
Liles then gets a shot to be on the 1 or 2nd pair where he belongs and the leafs get that oh so precious cap space |

BREAKING: Dan Cleary's 3 year contract with the #Flyers has fallen through due to "complications" and he will no longer be joining the team. Speculation out there is that the #NHL may have stepped in due to Cleary being signed even though the Flyers were $2M+ over the salary cap. More to come...

The ppg is a little higher, whitney has also been in the league longer than lies, has played less games due to injury and shotty play. Liles is consistant and dependable GMs pay for that. No point in wasting cap space for a player that cannot be on the ice.
