Challenge your friend to provide the exact Article and section of that Article in the CBA that states that.
- MJL

I went the lazy route and asked him to tell me what article/section says that.

Article 13 covers transfer of players to the minors. I posted the link to it. There's nothing about players physically having to report. Your friend is wrong

It's pretty cool that there's so much chatter based on the fact the Flyers have too many players instead of rummaging through the leftovers to fill depth slots.

FWIW:

@Eklund I have been coaching son's soccer team, so i'm not sure what's out there, but got a text during practice on Cleary/philly "not dead yet."

And thank god he is Even though it wouldn't really hinder plans either way. If he was right then the Flyers would just have to get them on a flight to Adirondack real quick and get them back before the next day.

Im really excited to see how much more Voracek can improve this year. Playing with Hartsy and Giroux again and seeing how well he progressed each past 2 years could be a big step for him..

They'll have a harder time getting Rosehill down and back, because he'll have to clear waivers.

He is a 70 point player now. It'd be hard for him to take off much more than he already has

but what if he gets claimed, we can't take such a high risk at losing such a valuable player

Saw that. At this point I guess we won't know what's going on until he either does or doesn't take the ice tomorrow morning.

It might take longer...who knows at this point? I do know his preference was to stay in Detroit, but at a fair price.

They offered him a 3 year deal in July, but he wasn't happy with the money. From what Butsy said, he met with the Red Wings brass and was 80-20 to stay with Detroit after the meeting.

Not that he'd get claimed, but waivers is a 24 hour process

So after 24 hours you can pull him back and send him down?

Waive him on Sept 29th, and that's not an issue.

Won't find out until tomorrow. If he doesn't show, then we know the speculation was true. No one's actually gotten any word from Cleary yet, so I would try to take all this with a grain of salt.

I figured he'd know more about this because of his Detroit contact. I forget which furry-bearded member of the Red Wings he knows...

Guys go on waivers by 5 pm, and they stay on waivers until noon the next day. If they clear, they can be assigned to the AHL.

With waiver exempt players, they can be immediately assigned to the AHL
