No, he was going to get a long look, he was never a lock to make it.

Cleary, should he end up as a Flyer, means that Talbot moves to the 4th line with Rinaldo and probably Adam Hall

- Jsaquella

I think Laughton had a chance of beating hall out. I know hall is good on face offs. We'll see where Laughton is in camp. Talbot and hall together seems redundant to me. Need a better skater on that line

He does have a chance to beat out Hall...but he was never a guy that they had as a lock to make the team, although he will get every opportunity to make it.

Talbot is a better all around player than Hall, but Hall is a good PK guy and very good face-off guy. That ability at the dot is his key to make the team

Hall is our 12th forward. If he fits into the depth chart as the 13th forward it'd be hard to imagine that they keep him in the NHL.

It's not hard to imagine for me. I still think there is a good chance that Laughton makes the team.

Didn't some advanced stat show that Hall was actually our best PKer last season?

Especially if they feel the need to keep Rosehill as the enforcer.

Very good chance the Flyers keep 14 Forwards.

Keeping our most promising prospect in the press box would be a truly idiotic thing to do.

Possibly...I don't recall seeing it. Actually I think Read was rated as the most effective PK guy.

It's possible, but they have a bigger logjam of non-waiver exempt guys at defense than forward.

I agree. We just don't know what they're going to do. Hall may sit some, Rinaldo may sit some. Who knows. Injuries can happen, etc etc.

They could also keep 8 defenseman. We just don't know. If Bourdon isn't cleared, he's an LTIR candidate. I don't see them being afraid of waiving Gervais.

I'd be surprised if Bourdon doesn't start the year on IR, if not LTIR. Gervais likely only stays if they can move a salary from the defense. If they do keep Laughton, they'll have to do more juggling to get under the cap to LTIR Pronger, as well.

I think if Laughton is one of the best 13 forwards, he'll end up sticking. But I want him playing regular minutes.

Thanks. I could see them grabbing Gervais or another defender. Their roster looks empty on D.

They have some UFA options, like Hainsey or Gilbert, too

What's this I'm hearing that players can't be "just sent down on paper" any more under the new CBA? Essentially meaning that if we sent down Couts/BSchenn just to get under before LTIRing Pronger, that Couts/BSchenn would actually have to report to the Phantoms? Any truth to this?

Talking to a couple friends of mine who are insisting that the Flyers must trade a contract in order to get cap compliant.

The CBA says nothing like that.

Article 13 covers minors and waivers, and mainly covers waivers and stipulates that teams must pay for transportation and housing for a set period of time

They are wrong. The Flyers can assign Schenn or Couturier to the AHL on October 1st to get under the cap, then recall them before their opener on Oct 2nd. Players get two days to report to the AHL club and there's no stipulation in the CBA that players assigned to the AHL must physically report

We sign Cleary to a three year deal. The same length of if your 15 year old enters 10th grade this past week. By the time your kid graduates high school, the contract finally expires. Within this time we have need to find ways to find space for Laughton to playful time. Oh, and Bobby Ryan, just forget about that wet dream!! Wave at it now!!

Apparently one of em has read the CBA himself. I don't believe him, but I don't factually know for myself that it's false.

Challenge your friend to provide the exact Article and section of that Article in the CBA that states that.
