Ok. But an offensive dman, makes life easier for your forward to produce as well.

Doesn't matter to me, trade Franson then and fill his spot with stay at home dmen.

Leafs fans had better come to grips with the fact that Liles will be playing on the big club this year.

I don't like it either, but there is no alternative.

He has to have a regular shift. You can't pressbox a guy for three years.

If they need an extra 900k to sign Franson, and If they view Holzer as an asset then Liles stands a chance of skating with the Marlies in October.

i agree, idon't like it at all,
but there doesnt seem to be a trading partner and as dozzer or glucky said, demoting him to the ahl only saves 900K on the cap. so that wouldn't seem to be an option.
i am glad they didnt buy him out though...

- Rockhead_37

They should have compliance bought him out, and either given Komi an unlimited game night popcorn card, or simply bought out Komi the old-fashioned way.

Or kept Grabbo, let Bozak walk, and given the compliance-kiss to Komi and Liles.

But yeah, what's done is done.

yeah, i saw an interview with fraser.... and noticed he was wearing #2...
i thought thank god, i hate those 40's #... and wished kadri and bernier would pick more common numbers....
then realized Fraser has #2 to give Bernier #45

I don't get why anyone ever cares which number a player wants on his jersey.

Would you really want to risk losing Liles on waivers?

Don't worry, that was a joke.

I think it was McKegg (or maybe Carrick) who was wearing that in rookie camp a couple years ago.

Imagine the convo with Franson's agent. "We've got 2 million in space ...we can free up about 760k by waiving Holzer ....or 900k by waiving Liles. You decide."

Franson is a top 4 D on this team. I dont care how you cut it or opinions. Franson is one of our top 4 D period.

I Hope he is here for a long time, but everyone has their own opinion.

I just read this propaganda peice on tsn.

Franson saw his role grow and grow last season, from under 14 minutes in January to upwards of 22 in April, and the now 26-year-old delivered, finishing amongst the leaders at his position in scoring. In addition to his increased responsibility, which included first duty power-play, Franson also showed more assertiveness defensively, with prodding from Carlyle paying dividends. A breakthrough 2013 continued in the postseason, with the B.C. native and unsigned restricted free agent adding three goals and six points in nearly 23 minutes against the Bruins. He and Gardiner teamed together in the final three games of the first round against Boston – with Fraser sidelined – and proved Toronto's most effective pair, a preview perhaps of what Carlyle may opt for this season.
