I'm not concerned about offense from the back-end with or without Franson. I'm still concerned about defense from the back end though, with or without Franson.

I honestly think the Leafs are going to go short bench and save $ for Franson that way, RC said they could possibly go instead of 23 to low as 20 man bench

liles is a funny character... i liked him with the Avs, and i liked some of the work he did here, but even before his injury, i thought he got pushed around a little too much. and you dont need that kinda problem, especially at $3.8mill.

i have no spot for liles, even sentimentally

I agree it's too soon for Reilly. Don't ruin him like Myers, rushing Dmen into the NHL rarely works out.

I agree that your D would be fine without Franson, defensively, but where will the offence come from on the back end, losing Franson will hurt even if Gardiner has a breakout year.

I don't like it either, but there is no alternative.

He has to have a regular shift. You can't pressbox a guy for three years.

Liles(when healthy), despite being pushed around had enough smarts to make good plays in the defensive zone.

Franson, even with his physicality(assuming he'll continue playing the way he did in the playoffs) struggles with the defensive zone.

Again, I like Franson, I like what he can become... but plain and simple, he was a 3rd pairing dman who was awesome on the PP. He needs to be paid based on that.

i agree, idon't like it at all,
but there doesnt seem to be a trading partner and as dozzer or glucky said, demoting him to the ahl only saves 900K on the cap. so that wouldn't seem to be an option.
i am glad they didnt buy him out though...
