You're not taking into consideration better opponents, fatigue, and frustration from getting exposed defensively... which can take a huge toll on a d-mans production. Case in point: McCabe.

You know what McCabe's problem was? Being part of the same set playsthat didn't change for 5 years and then refusing to change when opposing team's forwards figured out to pressure the points and block McCabes line to the net. Instant takeaway and breakaway every time.

That one is great for the Leafs, the trick is to try and work out a deal that fills both teams needs.

I'm picking the total body of work- doing anything else would be manipulating stats.

And yes, it's ok to take into account injuries, because those are games those guys just aren't playing, because of circumstances outside anyone's control. TOI/G reflects that he was doing things the coach didn't like.

In fact, if you want to read into the stats further, you could argue that people ahead of him getting injured may have lead to his minutes going up.

Come on man, how can you not like what Franson did last year. He was sound defensively and a bonus offensively..sure he was sheltered..we got guys on the 3rd line up front making big bucks...he's a keeper...obviously I wouldn't give him $5m/yr or anything...

but that doesn't prove anything.... because his toi/g is still lower than a guy who played 12 games, an the 2 mistakes they tried to play with dion....
and you need to include his first 12 games of sub 15mins per game... because that proves he was 5/6...
