The Leafs' D had no problem scoring last year.

It was what they did without the puck that was the weak spot.

Ranger over Franson (in theory) helps this.

But hey, if you think Franson is so hot, man up and make us an offer.

Hemsky for Franson

There ya go. An offer

Is it raining where you are? Have you ever seen/heard it working? Take a Pail of water and pour it in there to see if it works first.

I'd like to see this offer as well.

Robin is all talk, no action.

He won't man up and make an offer.

He'll run and hide like a Sedin.

here's the funny thing... Kostka, even after being replaced by Gunnar, still saw more TOI at the end of the season than Franson. Gardiner, who saw ice time at the end of the year, when Franson was supposedly promoted, still about the same TOI/G.

And the reason we don't look at gross TOI numbers, but rather TOI/G, is because we need to take injuries into account. That's why he sits in second for overall gross TOI... because he wasn't injured much last season.

And playing a lot on the PP isn't by circumstance, he's good offensively. But he's only good offensively. He's a PP specialist who plays on the bottom pairing during regular action.

Therefore... he's a bottom pairing d-man.

oh boy... like i didnt see this coming... you can manipulate the stats anyway you want to support an argument... like i said if you go back and delete the first 15 games.... those numbers will change... and franson will be top 4, but i wont do that.

Well it was their weak spot last year and it hasn't really been improved.
- robin_steele264

As wedgie points out, defensive scoring wasn't a weak spot at all... and with a full season of healthy Gardiner, and possibly a healthy Liles, along with a healthy Gunnarsson... I'm sure they can make up for the 29 points Franson provided, while getting an improved defensive presence.

Is there a lot of sand in your area or clay?

If sand, then your sump hole will probably never even get water in it!!!

Always a bit.

But if it sits too long, it goes stagnant (stinky) so you have to actually pour some fresh water into it.

I'm learning the ways of the sump pump, too. Had one for under a year now.

- Atomic Wedgie

Ya there is just sand in it...its moist but no water.

I'm not manipulating any stats

The reason TOI/G is one of hte stats on the NHL website, is because it gives you a more accurate representation of what happened than the Gross TOI number.

That's why pretty much every study you see governments do is on a per capita basis. You bring different sample sizes to a common denominator so you can compare them accurately.

So because Franson played with Fraser all year long, that makes him a #5 d.....does that make Holzer and Kostka #2's because they played with Phaneuf?
- mykokes

No.
I believe it means Randy thought they were better defensively than Cody.

You're right on the first part... and most likely dead wrong on the second part. Much like a sophomore slump, teams are going to pay more attention to him, and his p/g will likely drop from where it was last year... which wasn't on pace for 60 points over 82 games.

you also have to assume .... Gardiner and Franson (if playing) improve also...maybe Gunnarson is better and not injured...

but other than that..I agree...I am concerned.

So you think Franson is worth the same as a pile of crap, yet the Leafs are doomed without him?

Maybe wrong..but not dead wrong..he will have a good year when signed.

The more ice he gets the better he gets...(frank)ing Wilson totally destroyed his confidence...these guys aren't machines...

Anyway I did this yesterday...I really like Franson, I think he brings a lot to the team - but like you - its just my opinion and yes I watched EVERY leaf game last year, might have fast forwarded a couple due to finding out the score ahead of time

That's good, but I would still try it to see if it is in good working order.

Use water, don't just pull up the float and run the pump dry after it sitting dry for so long, this will also tell you if the sump drain hose is working...

so it's okay to take in account injuries, but not okay to take into account that a guy started the year in the press box and took 12 games to win over the new coach... during which stretch his toi/g was 10-12mins which impacts the whole body toi/g number
maybe manipulate is a strong word, i dont mean you are manipulating/changing them.. but you're picking the body of work that best suits you.
