With Liles, Gardiner and Reilly, the Leafs don't really need Franson in present or future.

Quite frankly, I'd trade the guy while his stock is high.

Although I strongly suspect that his stock is not as high with GMs as it is with Leafs fans.

Leafs D was their weak spot last year and if the only change is adding Ranger and losing him I think it'll kill their chances this year.

my point is he is a third pairing d-man.. he falls in behind phaneuf and gardiner when it comes to point producing d-men.

ok, i can agree with your logic if you are placing gardiner ahead of him going into this year... but last year based on toi and contributions, he was a 2nd pairing... i'm mean if you are only compairing estoi... there's what 4-5 guys with pretty much the same ice time..
talking last year, i dont count gardiner cause he played so little, and i think kotska was averaging like 25+ in the early going, so his numbers are bloated..

oh gawd, so for the past 2 months we have been on here talking Kadri and Franson to death, and now that Kadri is signed, we only have Franson to discuss.

Yeah, and let me ask you this, outside of getting secondary assists on that Oiler team, does Bergeron have any of the other elements to his game that Franson has, ie. I'm staring at the hits and Blocked shots columns....and that's the other thing, Kostka was getting the PP time at the beginning of the season over Franson. Our first PP unit was poop, while the second PP unit with Franson on it was contributing.

That's awesome for him. And it shows that Carlyle knows how to maximize what he gets out of his players- just like putting Kadri in the sheltered offensive role over Grabo.

But it doesn't change the fact that he was playing on the bottom pairing.
