I have a feeling they wont pick in the top 3. After all...theyve never picked higher than 6 and will be competitive this yr....even if they lose a lot. So...I am on the Stepan offer sheet bandwagon, even with the cost. They are 'millions' apart. An offer sheet of similar weight to the ROR one seems like spending 'wisely' vs getting teams leftovers.

I don't see the Flames ever getting number 1 without a trade. I agree though....it is worth it if not a number 1 in both yrs. Isnt the penalty a 1 2 and 3 for 2014? You can recoup picks by trading Hudler/Cammi/ Gio/GlenX. Interestingly though....Cammi said he'd be open to extending. Thats the kind of guy I want to lead a rebuild, not trade.

I am all for offer sheets for good young players...sure thing is a sure thing. Go look at some past drafts to see what a crap shoot it is. Another bonus is not cheering for your team to lose all year.

Anyway Calgary is better than a bottom 3 finish...Kipper and Iggy were terrible last year its no loss

Penalty is dependant on what the offer sheet is. At this point, I would rather they just stick with the plan. We haven't even completed a year into the rebuild (unless of course you're Dambrauskas ) Offer sheets just piss people off and usually accomplish nothing.
