Yeah, he is not going anywhere either.
- carcus

Of course they are keeping him. Derek Roy coming off the books next year and Leapold the year after that frees up more than enough money to go around. Plus you guys won't resign both of Halak and Elliott, not with Allen waiting in the wings.

Pacioretty, Tinordi and a first would be the starting point
- muffin_man

I would think so. I love AP, but it's too much to give given where the team is right now. Flyers have the assets and could do it. (God knows I don't want to see it happening tho)

I think they would be looking at what preds were looking for Weber last year. 1st, top 6, top prospect +.
- Frank0721

I think this is right. The reality is that when a team gets a player like Pietrangelo, they are not giving him up. My offer was very low. I recognize that.

I think a trade scenario made a LOT more sense before he was signed (assuming the signing does actually happen...). As an RFA with no contract yet, the Blues MIGHT have seen an opportunity to cash in on a player they didn't think would sign. I think that's the wrong move, but it could have happened.

What about Greening, I hear he is like E.Lindros but faster.

that was one of the most perplexing Avs trade ever....

i have no clue what Sherman was thinking when he traded Shattenkirk... not to mention accepting the return of extremely over-rated and useless Erik Johnson.

surprising that he still has a job.

Don't forget Varlamov for a lottery pick which ended up being Forsberg. This guy is awful, but apparently he's just the GM in name only.

According to a trusted source the Blues and Alex Pietrangelo are about to close on a deal..stay tuned.
- Eklund

I'm thinking the term "about to" refers to a 3-year window.

Since you're dreaming, how about Bobby Ryan, Cory Conacher, Jared Cowen and Cody Ceci for Pietrangelo and Chris Stewart.

You know what, I still wouldn't make that deal.

- bluenatic411

That's cool, because we wouldn't do that either.

Was that the same Sens fan that claimed last year that Jim O Brien would be better than any of the Oilers young guns?

Honestly, what would it take (from a Blues fan maybe) to pry Pietrangelo out from St. Louis?

If I'm Ottawa (and I am), I have no problem offering a defenseman like Cowen along with a young prospect/player (like Stone or Conacher or even Greening) along with a mid level pick.

What about other teams?

- sensano

That's not nearly enough.

Sens fan asked what it would take. That's the answer. Blues aren't looking to deal, that's about what it would take to talk them into it.
