You really believe this. Clearly he was a loss. He is a good player and would easily make the Nashville team.

he was a regular in Nashville for 2 years on some pretty good teams. he's become a very polarizing player in TO.

The coach played Franson more than he played Gunnar. I fail to see the sheltering going on.

thats because the leafs had a poop ton of PPs

you keep forgetting to add some significant facts.

also.. yes.. that 44 seconds more per game is a poop on i know.. i mean.. what a point you are making

franson barely cracked the lineup again this season cause he's so poor defensively

sorry man.. you guys all have mccabe syndrome when it comes to this guy.. he gets a few points and you all trip over your tongues talking about him

its rather hilarious actually.

ask yourself this.. if franson was soooooo good.. why the (frank) did nashville give him away in a dump trade.. lombardi wasnt making that much.

Realistically 99.9% I see him as a replacement for Kessel for next season.
- pker2theend

this is just about the dumbest thing i have ever read.

Can Vancouver replace the Sedin's with Colton Orr and Frazer McLaren?

Leafs can make it all fit.....with Raymond, Kadri, and Franson

Lombardi made 3.5 and Franson was only 24 I don't see why you think this guy sucks he played way better last year in his own end and will only get better.
- Garnie

I think he is on an anger fueled rampage and just hates Franson for some reason. This is one of those moments where you just stand by and let the train come off it's track, because you're not going to stop it and even if you could, it's more fun to just watch it happen.

Gunnar is slightly better, less physical though, and the cap is closing. Franson will be the better dman in the long run.

- systemtool

i disagree.. franson is average at best in his own end.. and thats giving him a lot

you give him the defensive assignments gunnar gets and he would get burned over and over and over

Oh no, but he sucks on the Leafs all world defense. That's why the coach played him more than Gunnar.

Im actually stunned to see this being debated so vehemently.

I think giving Gunnar the assignments we've been giving him has been most of what's been burning us over and over. Over rated.

Franson suits Carlyles system more and will adapt to it better than Gunnar. We witnessed it unfolding in the playoffs. Those of us watching, anyways.

waaaaait. OK, say he is average in his own end. but he's also above average in the offensive zone. based on last season, well above average. so you'd say that at worst, he's an average NHLer, more likely a slightly above average NHLer. shouldn't his salary be commensurate with that? $2 million is well under the league average.

there is nothing emotional about it

i havent liked franson since he first came here.. go back and check.. huddle and i used to disagree on this all the time.

i only cheer for him cause he is a leaf.. i could care less if he ever played another game in the blue and white.

he is overhyped.. and simply not as good as you all seem to think he is.

for a bottom pairing defenseman, 2 million is more than fair.

I agree with most of your points...but hes more than a $2M guy. Id put him in the $3M range, personally.

26 years old, 6'5 215lbs

243 NHL games - 100pts...thats more than a $2M player, imo.

He's a 35-45pt guy who's improved his defensive play a bit and has also added a physical aspect to his game. He can still learn and improve.

Gunnar can't. He really can't.

He was asked to, but he was asstit when it came to producing results and actually defending against other teams best. That is why Franson played a bigger role in the playoffs.

44 seconds more is 44 seconds more. More for a reason.

Franson may be a 2 million dollar dman, but so is Gunnar, and that's the point being made here. That one shouldn't be worth more than the other.

no need for childish insults.. beneath you.

i dont like fransons game.. he made some progress this year but i expect him to regress yet again.. always been his way.. takes a step forward.. then steps back again.

pair him with a true stay at home guy and line him up against 3rd and fourth lines and fine.. he'll work.. but you put him up against top lines.. he'll get burned over and over.
