Absolutely. People do realize that Detroit just barely scratched out a bottom seed in the East last year, right?

Yes, they pulled off a first round upset. Nobody is disputing that they have enough horsepower to do that from time to time. But they are an over-the-hill team that doesn't really have any ability to magically get better.

I tend to agree. Detroit was on the downside, last year, and got in on the last night of the season. They're major stars are now in their mid 30's and many of their character players are moving on. I wouldn't call their defense and goaltending overwhelming either.

Pressure is building on both side to come to an agreement. Same thing happened with PK, players are willing to bargain hard until they see the potential of missing paychecks

Yes & I if I can add to that, with Detroit's aging core, hopefully a full 82 game season will catch up to them at some point this season.

What kind of quality does Detroit have in the pipeline? They had the foresight and advantage, scouting Europe at their zenith, but other teams have caught up over time. They've traded allot of draft picks, over time, to stay on top, so who do they have that may be their next great player? Datsyuk and Zetterberg are not going to be able to take the pounding against teams like Boston and Toronto and expect to be fresh after an 82 game season. Krusty the Klown is also in his 40's, so where are they going to significantly appreciate? Weiss is in the same league as Bozak, so is that a great upgrade for them?

WOW, a Leaf fan & Hab fan on the same page. Yes the Wings have made the playoffs for what, over 20 years now? No more Yzerman or Lidstrom. They have an aging core up front. Questionable on defense. It's about time the Wings crap the bed. They are soooooooo long over due.

That's exactly the thing. They've had a fantastic pipeline for quite a while, but that seems to be gone. Although one thing they have proven is that they can develop a player like it's nobody's business. And agreed, the Krusty signing is a bad move to me, especially at that price, and Weiss will not help them against the Bruins and Leafs teams in our conference.
