you guys are far too convinced that franson and kadri will cost too much

colborne smith and holzer will clear up nearly 2 million once they get demoted.

tho i dont expect colborne will go down.

What the (frank) was the point of signing him?

it was too early agreed. should of waited to see how he recovered from injury first.

ah well.. i think if he's give a chance to prove himself.. and does well enough.. he could tempt a team who needs mobility on the back end to take him on

and if he does poopty.. demote him.. clear the 900K off the cap.. and go another route. big whoop.. its only money.. MLSE has plenty

- Dozzer

Might be hard - I think Ian White could offer similar services to Liles and he's a FA isn't he?

Meh. Having those types of players have a bigger impact than most think. Carlyle loves them.

Yeah, what happens when Parros and McLaren are sitting 5 and Montreal still has to answer to Orr/Clarkson?

Agreed. Also, having one goon does little. Easily avoidable. Having multiple skull crushers? Teams notice.

interesting that a hab fan would label guy who can skate, dive and play a little hockey - who's a bit on the small/frail side - as a waste of time/dime a dozen?
- BorjeFan4Ever

Guess he'd know... look how many they have

Not really. Toronto was better offensively than majority of teams. In fact they put the Hans to shame at least once last year using both offense and knuckles.

Oh man if Nonis could just dump Liles and get Kadri, Franson and Raymond on board that'd be soooo awesome!
- AngryWhiteMale

don't fret... he's going to any one of Calgary, Colorado, Winnipeg or Carolina.

and Nonis won't have to give much additional incentive in my opinion.

perhaps take a 1-2M dollar 4th line back in return.

and getting rid of Liles isn't just a CAP dump - it serves to make room for a better younger player - i.e. roster spot.... the Leafs don't need what Liles can bring.

I can see Liles & Ashton(or similar prospect or a 4th round draft pick) for a 3rd round pick coming back.

I wonder if Plekanec is going to be the tough guy again this year and slash Orr... I bet his teammates were thrilled with the outcome, Bourque got the concusion, Gionta had a heart attack and I believe he aged about 10 years in 10 seconds and Georges - have to give him credit - had to dance with McLaren.

Come to think of it... where was "Pleky" after that little incident..... ohh right I forgot he was on the way to the dressing room to put on fresh under pants.

mason wouldn't crack the habs lineup, he should be able to find himself in the leafs top 9 and top 6 to start. that shows the depth on the canadiens my friend. and yea we don't need another small player.

Parros-Moen-Prust?

ya, really collection of goal-scorers there. Dunno who plays C there though... so maybe Moen is 3rd line

Parros and Gionta are not expected to be ready for the first few games of the season, both had surgery this summer and are expected back in mid October.
