it was a bad 10mins and no.. the inability to shut the door with a big lead negates all the postives from that series.

it just showed the entire league how to beat the leafs D.. pressure them hard and they fall apart. watch for other teams to do that this upcoming season.. i'll bet money on the fact other teams do exactly that,.

This goes for Reimer as well then Yes?

Other teams can't throw out 3 lines that all play physical and have speed the way Boston can though.

even Pitts can't do that.

- Big_Lightnin

I think that's why you saw them ship out speed for some toughness and experience.

Dude... Mark clearly has the more successful film career.

Only notable movies Donny was in was 6th Sense in his piss-stained undies and getting his skull crushed by an ice cube in Saw.

- Stee-Dot

Overall yes. Mark has had 10 times more successful career BUT Donny in Blue Blood and his acting especially in Band of brothers I think he is the better actor BUT. Mark is still one of my favs too. other than that last pile of garbage he was just in

Why blame Franson though? Gunnar was on for 2 of the 3 goals during that 10 minutes. If Gunnar did his job as well as you think he can, we would have made that 2nd round. We leaned on our defensive Dman at our most crucial moments and he let us down. Franson can be as good as he is in their end AND contribute some offense too.

i never said gunnar was top of the hill when it comes to what i want from our D.. but I want an improvement on gunnar .. not more guys like franson

trade franson away for some real top pairing defense.. grease the wheels with a pick if need be.

slip gunnar down to second paing where he belongs to offset gardiner's inevitable miscues

and then play a solid pairing with someone like fraser and liles on the 3rd.

If we can get Kadri and Franson into this lineup, I'm pretty confident this team will do well.

i am hopeful these changes were made with a very specific plan in mind.. a lot of the leafs attack last year relied on speed
- Dozzer

Don't worry about Franson - I've been working on his backwards skating all SEPTEMBER now!!!

Healthy Fraser for those last 2 mins would have been a whole different ending... possibly.
- Big_Lightnin

Fraser is quietly becoming one of my favourite players on the back end. Can't explain it, but the guy is under rated and good. I guess I like a good underdog story now and then?

Trade Gunnar for that. Franson is one of the few well rounded Dmen we have that can do a bit of everything. Score, play physical, throw hits etc.

Our goal should be to eliminate Gards miscues, not provide him with camo.

it was not being able to clear out the front of the net.. do anything to make it happen.. take a penalty to draw one.. hack his legs.. get into a fight.. do whatever it takes

the leafs D fell short. plain and simple. and reimer blew it as well.

- Dozzer

ya, my point was that I don't think any other team in the East can sustain that level of pressure on the D for 5 straight minutes. Boston can. Nobody else has that level of size, grit and talent 3 lines deep.

Issue for Boston obviously, but not as big an issue for "the rest of the league doing it to the Leafs"

gunnar is a far more manageable player cap wise moving forward.. franson seems to think of himself as a potential star.. he isnt.. and never will be

keep gunnar.. who is more reliable on the back end .. and move the guy who has held out twice in two years.

(frank) this guy.. seriously

dont need to have three lines.. just crash the net hard and shoot fom the slot

you'll score

dont evven need the sustained pressure.. just keep hurling your big bodies at the crease and the leafs wont be able to do sweet Richard all about it

Gunnar is the only responsible dman in the top 4. Period. Rielly in the pipe puts another offensive D on deck next year. Can't have 4 offensive guys in the top 4. Just a terrible idea.

One of Gardiner or Franson will not be on this team in 2 years.
