if you are going to be a one dimensional d-man.. better make sure that dimension is defense.
- Dozzer

Fortunately for Franson, he's becoming an asset to the team at both ends of the ice and is only improving. Gunnar is, and will likely remain, one dimensional. Of the two, Gunnar fits the 5th/6th role better.

fine.. i'll back down.. but the only reason his game improved last season was because the system improved..

he was more of a beneficiary than anything.

The thing is, Franson is showing improvement. Gunnar has either plateaud or taken a step back. I think Franson will play a bigger role in the future for this team than Gunnar.

Franson is a Carlyle type player, he's just getting better. Well said.

lol i love how to you guys some guys at 26-27 arent going to get better and some guys are.

Still, expecting him to sign at 2.5 is.... optimistic? Foolish? Dumb as balls?

Nahhh i'll go with optimistic.

- Scabeh

Franson already took his bridge deal. Time to pay up or ship him out.

Well, considering you watched the playoffs, then you know how wrong you are and why Franson played more than Gunnar.

All over the map - but started with fav Alice in Chains and moved from there - right now mostly just play the acoustic - blind melon / pearl jam / all the easier acoustic grunge type songs I can

Some of the other stuff too like bill withers or lightfoot - I just hear songs on the radio and then try and play for now

I'd keep both personally. I do think Franson is the better d-man, especially when he started to use his body more, but Gunnar you can stick with anyone, on any pairing. I think Gunnar is a very underated ceribral d-men. I think both are top 4 d-men.

On the age thing, most d-men usually come into their own at 25, which happend to be Franson's age last season, where he came into his own.

I know it was only half a season but a 50 point, 200 hit pace is pretty awesome.

Think Gunnar had a rough year with his hip last year and that's why people soured on him a bit - the year before he was awesome - hopefully he returns to form this year.

personally i think that 26-27 is plateauing for 90% of players. you can still improve somewhat, or round out your game, but you've settled into your "tier" by that point.

no i'm not.. i think he has a weak stick when it comes to defense.. those first strides of his are lumbering.. he does have a gorgeous shot.. i wont take that away from him.. and he does have an uncanny ability to get the puck on net.

thats why i actually didnt mind him with fraser.. fraser is such a solid stay at home guy he compensates for fransons lack of ability in his own end.

i just think that pairing him up with gardiner full time second pairing will eventually bite the leafs in the ass. everyone thinks it works but nobody considers the fact that as a pairing they hadnt truly been scouted properly (they only became a pairing after fraser got hurt) AND they were playing against a slumping seguin line.

i never said franson didnt have his merits.. but i do think his skill level is being overblown

there ya go.. a complete response.. so you dont think i hate for no good reason.. i have my reasons.
