I did. I have no way of knowing if you did or didn't. Your reaction to it is childish.

You miss alot of games playing band in bars. How the eff do I know if you watched most of the games. Especially if you insist Franson, who was better than Gunnar, wasn't better than Gunnar.

I thought McCabe and Kaberle provided alot of great and entertaining years for the fans until the team fell apart. I thought they were great for the team for a few years, but wore their welcome out in the new NHL post lockout. You probably thought Frogren was a steal at the time, didn't you?

Good day.

cause bars dont have tvs right? you do realize my sets are generally after game time?... good try tho.

when mccabe and kaberle signed those contracts my reactuion was it was serious overpayment for one dimensional players.. much like franson.

...I see more potential in Franson than a 5th or 6th defenseman. Sorry?
- Colin Dambrauskas

you dont pay a 26-27 year old guy for potential colin.. he isnt going to get much better than what he already is.

just a simple fact.

nope..

my distaste for franson as a player goes back to the day the leafs got him

go check if you dont believe me.

i've tried to like him.. but unless he's sheltered in his matchups.. he's simply not that great.

He just turned 26 in August and all I read are good things about him!!!!

But hey not everybody likes all the same players

I hope he turns into a gem and we didn't pay Lombardi 3.5 to skate around bumping into the boards!!!!

as a defenseman your job is defense first offense second.

if you cant do the first thing the second really doesnt matter.

- Dozzer

But this is what I mean...can you really not say that Franson made nice improvements in his defensive and physical game last year? I certainly thought so.

Hes a younger, big bodied defenseman who I personally feel has room to develop his game under Carlyle. If he really is nothing more than a 5th/6th defender in Carlyle's eyes than yes...I completely agree with you.

I know most dont care about advanced stats, but heres some info anyways on Franson which furthers my point as to why I feel hes more than a $2M guy.

you're taking such a black-and-white approach to this and that's not how the NHL works. Tomas Kaberle is a perfect example. he was junk in his own zone. now that he's been put out to pasture, even Leaf fans admit that he was a train wreck when he actually had to play defence. but the thing about Kaberle was that when he was on the ice, the team didn't play defence as much. because Kaberle could drive offence. he could execute a breakout, he could carry the puck up ice, he could carry the puck out of trouble, he could help the Leafs maintain offensive pressure from his spot on the point. he was a very good hockey player in his prime, an All Star. it didn't matter that he was crap in his own end because he more than compensated for it. guys like that have a certain value.

and i was fine with him when he was making a adequate amount of money.. it wasnt until he signed the big contract that i had an issue with him

i recognize not every player is going to be well rounded.. but they shouldnt be paid like a complete player if they arent one.

Exactly.
I don't think Coffey or Letang would be considered great defensively.

So what you are saying is Franson = Coffey???
