It can be fun if you're not the person who uses it as a platform to force-feed your personal views on politics, religion, etc... on everyone who has to read it. - eichiefs9
Just seems a little too much sharing. I always liked sending someone an IM. Quick and less messy. |

From Staple:
"Martinek here, as is Miro Saatan, though only one of them is getting an invite"
I'm pretty sure that won't be Miro.
Dan Cleary signs with Flyers, 3 years $7.75 million!
You can now see that the main point of the last CBA was to help teams like the Flyers wiggle out of their salary issues. They've purchased a new team this season and still will manage to be under the cap. Pronger will go on the LTI and Snider's desperate attempt to claim a Cup before he dies will be relentless. Can't blame a guy for trying I guess.

Owners like Snider cause all the CBA problems. He does not want to partner with the other owners. He wants to bury them. Regarding the invites, Radek can be a good depth guy. Other then him, forget any other invites and and show faith in the good young prospects. |

Personally I think Tavares is better. Toews hasn't been tested with tough times. The kid has played with elite talent since he first stepped into the league. It's, on a lesser level, making a comparision between Gretzky and Lemieux's careers as of 1989. Sure, Gretz had more cups at that point, but he also had spent his whole career with an friggin' all star team. Lemieux willed his team to become a contender.
Toews is a great player and has had a splendid early career but it's pretty damn easy to be a successful captain playing on a team like that. I'd bet if he were here in Tavares place last year the Isles wouldn't have made the playoffs. End of story.

I think your discounting toews..the blackhawks were awful when he got there |

According to IPB, some Nassua Pols are still trying to keep the Isles in Nassau. If only they had years to get a deal done. There just was not enough time. |

I could see it happening but the plan must be to make more seats in this arena. I don't see why ratner would be against it? |

It looks like xxNYIxx might win his bet. DP might be signing with the PAnthers due to Clemmenson injury
There may be an NHL opportunity for DiPietro. His name has been floated for the Florida Panthers’ current vacancy in goal, with Scott Clemmensen injured and out for three weeks.
The Rat Trick opined:
I think signing DiPietro would be a low-risk, high reward move for the Florida Panthers. He could be signed at a very low cost to a short one or two year contract. If Clemmensen’s injury issues persist, he would make a perfect back up to Markstrom and there is still the chance that at 31, DiPietro could tap into some of the talent and ability that made him a number one draft pick way back in 2000. If Markstrom struggles or gets injured, DiPietro would absolutely be a better option than players like Houser or Madore, both of whom have zero NHL experience.

I think your discounting toews..the blackhawks were awful when he got there - Dan Petriw
Let's clarify a bit...they had BEEN awful when he got there, but finished 3rd in their division his first NHL year then went to the conference finals in his second. They then made the playoffs every year since. The guy didn't suffer through near the tough times Tavares has seen. Not even close.
Now we have two potential debates:
Who would be a better Captain...I think that one is way too subjective given the fact that no one here has been in the lockeroom game in and out. Then there's the who's the better player. While I like Toews, I don't think he's quite there with JT.

I think Brooklyn has all the positives going for it. From all the trains to the corporate sponsors for Nassau to compete. |

I would let the stick boy play in the net, before RD ever was given another chance. All that will happen, is he will play 1 period and get hurt, I will bet you on that. |

McCann has the Isles finishing 7th in the Metropolitan. Behind NJD and ahead of only Carolina. Have a hard time buying that.
My prediction (albeit, one that is based upon nothing other than a hunch)
PIT
NYR
PHI
NYI
WAS
CBJ
NJD
CAR
Top four make the playoffs. I don't think many points in the standings will separate 2-8. |

You have many teams that were not so much last year, making big steps.. No Leafs, which are improved.. I don't see it. |

Leafs are in the Atlantic, not in the Metropolitan. Metro sends four teams and the Atlantic sends four (BOS, TOR, DET, MTL). Maybe OTT gets in too, bumping a team out of the Metro. Again, its real early. Hard to predict. |
