I remember everything.
I watch both teams all year.
Both D's are bad.
Oil upgraded a little this year. Leafs didn't.
Look at the team stats over the past couple years.. What separates the Leafs from the Oilers in terms of defence? - robin_steele264

Addressing the notion that the Leafs are totally screwed without Dion.
He's not THAT important to the Leafs success. - robin_steele264
stop listening to the MSM.... just stop!!
he is a big part yes... and they dont have an internal option to replace him, and there isn't an UFA option available either..
otherwise your d wouldn't be soo bad. |
|
|
|
if you were to trade all 7 top d-men for each team to the other team.... the leafs would be drafting 3, 4 or 5 overall... and the oilers would have made the playoffs last year...
neither team wins the stanley cup... so if you are saying the leafs d sucks... than the oilers d sucks ______!! fill in the blank - Rockhead_37
It's fun to play what if

They got young guys ready for a bigger role.
They'd be just fine without him

Mouslon
cheap, upside, top 9, goal scorer, hed be the perfect fit for nasville - walk-talk
Moulson is a 3 time 30 goal scorer. Thats not really a mid level trade. Also, no way the Isles trade Moulson. He is JT's boy and Moulson will re-sign because he knows JT butters his bread.
It doesnt seem like the Preds have the Veteran Dman to spare the Isles would want. This is doesnt seem plausible. Plus, Snow is always tight lipped on transactions. If the Isles need a Dman I think they would look to LA or PHX.

Reimer + Liles to Flames for their 1st? - MasonGillis
A decent goalie and a third string D man for possibly a #1 centre or a franchise D man.. hmmmm let me think about that, nope. Calgary is in a solid rebuilding position. Until the goalies we have show what they can do, no need for another and especially no need to waste a contract on a veteran player. Calgary has the 2nd lowest payroll in the league which puts them at an advantage with teams like Toronto who are up against the cap and still have players to sign. Feaster has the leverage to get a more for cheaper if he wants. And i'm betting that first rounder isn't even in the realm of in play. |

moulson has been a 30 goal scorer for 4 straight years (just on pace to make 30 the last year), in the last 4 years hes like top 8 in consistency for goal scoring. Moulson could probably fetch more |

Ferrence is 34 and was 4th best behind chara, siendenberg and boychuck with boston. He's inconsistent and injury prone, 2 big issues if he's expected to log bigger minutes in edm.
Ranger will be an upgrade to the leafs, as he should be expected to play a bottom 4 role he's suited for.
I expect both Gardiner and shultz to be better this year.
With franson, phanuef and gardiner, leafs have a lot more offense coming from their d than edm does. |

Ference logged big minutes on a championship D. He brings a lot to the team.
Leafs will probably have a bit more offense from the D, Petry and Schultz being the Oilers only real offensive guys... Well maybe Grebeskov but he doesn't count.
As far as actual defence goes.. You know, stopping goals, it's a wash between both teams.
Eakins new system may factor positively or negatively.

If that's what the Islanders need then why are they talking to the Predators? The Predators currently have 3 rookies slated to be on defense so they're not giving up anyone with any measure of experience. The only three they have are Weber, Josi and Klein. - Predaceous
Frans Neilsen, Calvin deHaan and 2014 & 2015 1st pick for Weber.

There are similarities. Pronger can't see because of an eye injury and Dion can't see past his huge forehead.
That being said - I will happily cheer for Amoukar Phaneuf. - Woderwick
Dion's the missing link to cromagnon man. Fitting the way he wields a club.... |

How do you figure when the Leafs took a championship team to game 7 and the Oilers drafted 7th overall. |

Because the leafs also blew a 4-1 lead in the last ten minutes of game 7. |

Defence was their undoing... I was sure they'd adress that but they haven't. I'm actually a Leaf fan so I'm concerened it'll kill them this year
