Interesting you would guess that... I would put them at 4th at best, barely squeaking into the playoffs. - BigDre

The top four spots are pretty much set - L.A. - Anaheim- San Jose - Vancouver. How it all plays out is anyone's guess. |

I don't see SJ beating us in the regular season standings (playoff, no problem). Same with Anaheim. I see it like this:
L.A.
Vancouver
San Jose

LA hasn't exactly proven to be a regular season powerhouse. Could easily see them anywhere from 1st to 3rd (with Anaheim pulling up the rear in 4th). |

Agree. But I didn't want to be accused of being a blind homer. If we are talking regular season standings I have no doubt that Canucks will be challenging for top spot in the division.
Playoffs are a different beast... |

I can be ok with that. I'm hopeful the Canucks look somewhat different come playoff time, meaning the second and third lines play an important role in our assumed success. |

If Horvat or Gaunce don't win the 3C spot I still have my fingers crossed that Gillis makes a serious push for Ott in January. By that point we should be able to fit his cap hit and he should be on the market (assuming he doesn't sign an extension in Buffalo, but seriously, why would he sign an extension in Buffalo?). Ott centering the 3rd line in Vancouver would likely make them an instant contender. |

You're right, it's obvious the Oil will dominate the Pacific and walk away with the cup

@VanCanucks: #Canucks have reduced Prospects Camp roster. De Champlain, Franson, Johnston, Maillet have been released. |

16. Brodeur, by the way, had a great line when asked if he could see himself playing even longer as a potential backup to Cory Schneider: "I would be a bad backup ... I don't practise that hard."

I see Anaheim as the 4th best team in the division. I don't think they have the horses for a full season like last year. That defence is :/ and they're really relying on young guys making big steps in the middle of their forward ranks. I'm really not even that sold on their goaltending. Fasth came out hot but finished the year .500 once the league was like "Oh you're gear is illegal use this legal stuff" and are we getting the Hiller from the Olympics and the year they beat the piss out of SJ or are we getting the mediocre streaky one?
Between San Jose with a defence that needs Burns to be good on defence, LA which kinda seems to sleep walk in the regular season and Vancouver in a new system I can see them making up the top 3 in whatever order.
But thats all healthy, who knows what injuries will do.
The only team that doesn't really have any questions is LA. |
