It's way too early to be assuming that Matt Read will be gone after the season. A lot can (and probably will) happen over the next 10 months or so that may give the Flyers more breathing room to re-sign the key forward.
- bradleyc4

Yeah, I don't see this spelling Read's departure. Something will have to shake out at some point, but I don't see losing Read as the likely result.

Dan Cleary for 2.75 per for 3 years!? With a NTC...Holmgren is easily the worst GM in the league.
- Rseen

What website did you order Ilya Kovalchuk's KHL jersey from?

I was thinking of getting a Dan Cleary jersey and was looking for suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

That's all very true. But nothing really needs to happen for the Flyers to be able to re-sign Read at some point this Season. Other then Read wanting to re-sign here, and that both sides can come to an agreement.
- MJL

That's true too. $10 million in current cap space for next season, and that doesn't include the probable increase in the Upper Limit and Pronger on LTIR again.

Would tagging space become an issue with an as-yet-undecided salary cap for next season, assuming he resigned during the year?

It shouldn't. Flyers have over $13 million in expiring contracts right now.

Tagging space will not stop the Flyers from re-signing Read, or any other player at some point this Season.

Will it only become an issue if they start re-upping a number of players (i.e. Read, Schenn, Meszaros/Timonen, Emery, Mason)?

I don't anticipate re-signing Meszaros. Timonen could put a wrench into it, if they re-sign him for big money again. But overall, tagging space is not an issue. Especially come March 1st.

It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Trade something with a beloved Flyer on the cover, for something with a Devil on the cover.

Could be worse, Holmgren could have given 4.75 per to a player who had more concussions than goals last year. Enjoy Clowe.
- PLindbergh31

But he did overpay a 35 year old Streit who is on a clear decline.

Crying b/c I state the truth and you can't handle it. Devils will still be better than the Flyers.

Can you provide some facts that backs up that Streit is on a clear decline?

You didn't offer anything that suggests that Streit is clearly in decline. I'm open to discuss anything that you want to, concerning Streit. And we'll find out if he is clearly in decline.

In the past 4 years, Streit's point paces have been
08-09 - 62 points
09-10 - 49 points
11-12 - 47 points
12-13 - 46 points
The only real drop is from 08-09 to 09-10. It's considerable enough that I have to question if his age is at fault as much as his team.

Love them or hate them, this is still an awesome thing for the Pens to do for their season ticket holders: http://video.nhl.com/vide...5&id=443537&cmpid=nhl-twt

Also, here's Bobby Ryan asking strangers in Ottawa what they think of Bobby Ryan:

In 08/09, he also played of Forward. That was exactly my point. Last Season, Streit's point production was about the same as it has been the previous two Seasons. So there's no real indication that he is in clear decline.
