I dig it. It's simple, sharp and honors real heroes. Very happy that there's no (frank)ing Rocky Balboa on there.

We don't need Simon Gagne.

Did you see?

We gave a camp invite to the corpse of Hal Gill.

not sure what the cost would be, but chimera from WSH may be available. he'd be a better fit on our 3rd line w/ read and couts than just about anyone else. brings needed size, 200 ft play w/o sacrificing speed. 1 yr left @ 1.75 mm. just a thought....

he's a guy i've been waiting for to show up at some point. thought it would be sooner than this, but, honestly, i'm not surprised he's getting a shot here.

I remember thinking he was a shot player when he was in Montreal and that was, at least, 2 years ago.

Last time he played (fairly) well was in 2009 with the Penguins. That was 5 seasons ago.

It really depends on what's going the other way. It'd make sense if we could clear up some salary/a roster spot (like the long awaited and now unlikely Meszaros trade), but Washington isn't swimming in cap space, either.

Meszaros and Hal Gill's PTO for Chimera? Interesting. Almost assures we won't be getting Gagne if we did that though, as they're both pegged for that 3rd line winger spot opposite Read.

I'd probably be more interested in Gagne simply because we wouldn't have to trade anything to get him. I assume it'd be some kind of draft pick going the other way for Chimera.

That's my thoughts. Also, he'd probably come cheaper than Chimera.

They reportedly have interest in Daniel Cleary...got to admit, I'd prefer Cleary over Gagne for the possible open spot next to Couturier and Read. He's got more grit than Gagne, and he's been less prone to injury than Gags.

Also, as a UFA, Cleary doesn't cost any assets.

I'd like to see some good competition between the 2 at camp. Let the better player earn the spot.

Plus, all of the Newfoundland fans would like us a little more.

I'm not even sold he's getting a shot to stick, as much as the Flyers doing him a solid and letting other teams see what he's got left in the tank.

They already have 8 guys for 7 spots on the blueline. I'd be stunned if they have a Meszaros trade lined up, and even if they waive Gervais & MAB goes on LTIR, they have 7 guys.
