It's possible, but not necessary.

The trouble is, who would be dealt? I'd love to land Bouwmeester, but the Blues just signed him to that extension. They don't have a real need to move him.

The same goes for a lot of the other defensemen out there. I'm not sure Read and Coburn have the value to land a guy of that stature anyhow

Meszaros has uncertain health. If he shows he's healthy, he'd have more trade value, or could even allow the Flyers to shop Coburn. Read being a pending UFA hurts his trade value. They're obviously unwilling to move Brayden Schenn or Couturier at this point.

Of course, since it's Holmgren, we could see a massive trade tomorrow morning
