Per Helene St James on Twitter, Cleary will sign with Flyers, 3 years, $2.75mm cap hit, NTC...deal goes into effect at end of month, which helps the Flyers make cap room

I think there going to be a big trade with a couple of players invovled...2 forwards or 1 forward and 1 defenseman....just a hunch

If anyone is surprised at the NTC, I have to ask

REALLY? He was getting a NTC. There was really no way that he was signing without one.

- Jsaquella

I guess he's been demanding one?

Sorry I've been a little out of the loop. School starting up, moving in to the apartment....studying biochem and physio and immuno....

At least I get to go to camp on Friday with the girl.

From what I have heard, the Flyers approached him in July, and he was waiting on the Red Wings. The Flyers re-opened talks and the Red Wings wouldn't match it.

With that degree of loyalty to the Red Wings, had to expect some sort of NTC

They can send Rosehill, Gervais and one of Schenn or Couturier down to the AHL( on paper) and get under the cap to start the season, then shift Pronger & Bourdon to LTIR and recall Rosehill and whichever of the kids they sent down and have enough room to fit Cleary's deal without making another move

What a pathetic excuse for an NHL GM. What a (frank)ing awful contract. And we could've had Gagne for less yrs and money

I know we have the cap space if we do the shuffle of players at the start of the season......I don't think we have the space...if we ship out read now before his big raise we just replaced him with clearly and gagne and by packaging with mez we get more cap flexibility and some value in return.....I bet some team like Edmonton or Nashville wants read and would be willing to part with a young dman and would take back mez or cobourn....depending on who's coming back. Heck start the weber rumors....if you add in one of our young centerman and some picks

Gagne and Cleary don't even approach replacing Read. Gagne is breaking down. He hasn't had a 20 goal season in 4 years. He's missed 77 out of 212 games the last three years. They simply can't count on him being healthy or effective any longer.

More importantly where does Laughton play now? 4th line center? ICK. I don't like that

I also don't like the line combo of Cleary-Couts-Read. Read is waaaaay too fast for those 2.

That's my point if they trade read, schen, cobourn and picks...by picking up clearly and gagne...we can still keep solid 1-4 lines and pickup the #1 dman

If they trade Read and Schenn and keep Gagne they won't have solid lines anymore.

Gagne might score 15 goals & play 60 games. Cleary will score 15 or so. Read and Schenn could score 20+ each.

Name a top flight dman and your lines look a little better.....maybe St. Louis will trade one of their dmen
