It won't happen every week, even though we all may wish that to be the case.

I think the argument isn't who's better, but who's better for us? Who has the superior two-way game? Cleary is grittier than Gagne, which our 3rd line could use. Can Cleary be had for cheaper than Gagne? Is Cleary going to be the locker room role model that Gagne is? Can Cleary be relied on to stay healthy? Can Gagne? "Who is the better player?" actually isn't the most important question for this specific role.

Far more impressed by a guy that rebounds from a subpar regular season to have a good playoff than one who gets traded for at the deadline and limps home to die

Morrow does have a lot of mileage on him, been a warrior for a long time. Not sure how much he's got left. Cleary has been dinged up, here and there, but he's still relatively healthy, especially compared to Gagne over the last 3 years.

Not anymore impressed by Cleary's playoffs numbers then Shelley's two goals in two games against us as a Ranger or Talbot's two goals in the final game of the 09 Cup final. Morrow stayed up to speed when he got to Pittsburgh, he slowed down in the playoffs. However Morrow lasted longer in the playoffs by seeing the light of the third round. Which is all that matters when it comes to the case of Cleary vs. Morrow.

So, Morrow's playoffs were more impressive because his team got further? He didn't play well in the playoffs, he ran out of gas. So yeah, Cleary's playoff work was more impressive than Morrow's, because Cleary put up his numbers against the first and second seeds in the West, while Morrow's team played the 7 and 8 seeds in the East.

That's like saying Thomas Vokoun is better than Henrik Lundqvist because his team went deeper in the playoffs. When comparing individual players, how deep the team went is, at best, a secondary concern
