If the divisions had remained the same I would feel more confident in them making the play-offs.
I worry about us in this new division. It's gonna be tough. Every game is going to be a fight. Particularly with more teams in the Eastern conference for the same amount of play-off spots.
I'll need a season to see how this whole new structure shakes out.

They should at least be in the hunt for one of the bottom 2 seeds. And with this wacky new format, it seems like the line between being a top-seed and being the bottom seed is really thin.

Obviously I hope you're right but they need to finish ahead of one of the Rangers, Penguins, Capitals, Islanders or Blue Jackets. Four were playoff teams last season and Columbus has been busting chops in the Eastern Conference in 2011 & 12012.

Plus two years ago the Devils were in the Finals. As much as I'd love to, can we really count them out?

That's assuming that the Atlantic Division is only sending three of Detroit, Montreal, Ottawa, Boston and Toronto which is a HUGE assumption on the face of it. What if we have to finish third in the METRO? Are we better than one of NYR, PIT or WSH?
