I agree... it's way too early to give up on him. Tons of raw ralent there.

Interviews I've seen of him he seems to have drive to get better. He is pretty low key, though. You never really hear too much about what he's up to; working out, putting on weight etc.

Sign Bryz for one year Cheap and bring back Kipper
- Byfuglien Ate Me

Nah we have something like 16 goaltenders we need to work through first...
Honestly, I'd like to wait until after the all star break and see what we truly have for goaltending... With Kipper (OFFICIALLY) gone and a re-build/tool/design/tard year ahead... why bring in the drama?

Just took a moment of silence in my day. To me, Kipper was the one who brought us out of darkness. Iggy was great but Kipper was our savior. Saves that man made in 2004 defy human anatomy, especially in that Vancouver series. This team should of won a cup with Kipper & Iggy in their primes. Oh well, no point chewing on old grass when there is hopefully greener grass in the next pasture. I don't care what anyone says, Kipper still has the ability to backstop a Cup winner on the right team. Give him a year off, we may see him again.

Totally agree but I think he returns to Finland after this school year... Maybe we'll see him around the rink in Okotoks more now...

Just a thought...but the Flames are now 29th in terms of team payroll this year. They have money to spend and Burke/Feaser et al said they were likely to spend it "wisely", but spend most of it.

That leaves a lot of room...

Yea ok, but on who?

I keep waiting for a team over the cap to dump some salary on us along with a pick or prospect. Maybe after camps or pre-season.

I asked before but got no answer. Colin, maybe you can answer it. If I'm not mistaken, teams haveto be cap compliant before the season and can not put players on LTIR until the season starts. Correct?

Teams can remain up to 10% over the cap until the first regular season game. And generally speaking, players are not played on LTIR until the season has begun...unless of course they are returning LTIR players.

Right so does that not mean that a team like say Philly, would have to get under the cap before game 1 but not by LTIR on a player like Pronger because that can't happen until the season has begun. I think they did the same thing last year but saved themselves by sending down Schenn to start the season. Maybe it was 2 years ago. Same deal with Savarx in BOS.

Should have won i agree... but I found it rich that kipper said thabks to an organization for giving the team all the resources they needed in order to win. At times sure but for the most part I don't think the team has been properly managed for a decade. For all we know that statement could be an inside joke

Or a team like philly is prepared to pay the fine. I'm under the impression there's a fine for going over the cap come game one? Imo, there's litte rationale to that move unless they really want to find the right move for one of their players. But there justs to much script written to not see something happen between the flames and leafs

Feaster forgot to mention that Kipper will be missed by the Sedin twins.

I'm sure a fine wouldn't matter but a penalty like say a lost draft pick may hurt a bit more.

- fines of $1M-$5M (which count against the cap)
- forfeiture of draft picks (# and type at the discretion of the Commissioner)
- forfeiture of games
- suspension of team employees (including GMs)
- voiding of player contracts IF the player was complicit in the circumvention.

There are only two ways a team is permitted to exceed the Upper Limit - the Performance Bonus Cushion and the Bona Fide Long Term Injury/Illness Exception (LTIR).
