Raymond doesn't have to have a spot on the team to make the team. He could easily get a 2 way contract and just be purely back up which I don't mind at all. A winger goes down with an injury and Raymond could slide right in. - Sheppy99
i would guess that he would be an insurance signing should Kadri not sign.. because if that happens, there is definitely an open spot.
to me the tryout is 2fold... Nonis doing a favor for a kid he drafted, and sending a message to kadri that, if he doesn't sign what's being offered, they have alternatives. |

Cant wait for Subban to get 7-7.5. Great value for a guy who has a career high of 38 points! - GardinerExpress
1) He's a d-man
2) 38 points in 42 games for a d-man... Come on

Maybe so, but I can still see Mason making the team even with Kadri signed (gonna have to be on the cheap though!) Currently our 13th forward would be trevor smith.
I'd be a lot happier if Raymond was on the 3rd line, McClement on the 4th, and McLaren as the 13th.
JVR-Bozak - Kessel
Lupul-Kadri-Clarkson
Raymond-Bolland-Kulemin
Colborne-McClement-Orr
*McLaren
McClement could replace Raymond on the 3rd line late in the games while protecting a lead. Any injury, move Colborne up and call up D'amigo |

If leafs were to send him down he probably wouldn't get picked up, if he could go to Russia and make some good money I would think he'd be signed already?
Only sign him if he comes in and plays VERY good. Imo - Garnie
not if he hasn't even considered it yet... |

1) Subban is not gonna keep up that pace (75 points) over a full season.
2) The habs are not gonna lead the league in powerplays again (And have the highest pp/game rate in 5 years!)
3) Leafs fans hear the same about Franson never hitting 30 pts (29 in 45 last year,
35 combined over 52 games)
Kessel deserves 8...look at Corey Perry's contract. I realize he had a monster season 3 years ago but has basically been a 60 point player the last 2 seasons, whereas phil has been an 80-85 point player the last 2 seasons. |

and we have to give it to him, or we will have to waste that cap space with overpaid vets like Gionta (5 million) and Briere (4 Million) |

Very happy Leafs are giving Raymond a shot, he could be a great inexpensive addition with something to prove at 27............those are the type of guys that leave it ALL on the ice and don't complain or hold the club to ransom. Good luck Mason. |
