oh i dont care if guys smoke weed.. not one bit. so long as they produce.
kadri will have lots of time to think about things if he doesnt smarten up and take whats being offered.
colborne is dying for a chance.. kadri would be smart not to give it to him. - Dozzer
Ya Im pretty sure Kadri wont have to worry about Colborne replacing him.

in the NHL? how? the leafs own his rights? the leafs would have to move him.
you arent making sense. - Dozzer
He'd get an offer sheet at some point.
Franson is probably content with a 1 year deal because he's 2 years out from UFAgency and he can use his arb rights next year to control negotiations with the Leafs like Gunnar and Fraser did this year. The only real issue is how much he gets for this year. |

I love how this new generation of players in the NHL is killing the integrity of the sport with it's sense of entitlement and lack of desire to win.
They want to do well to get the yacht, not to win. - markmark
Have you seen what has gone on in the league the couple of years?
They now have a Metropolitan division.......this league is a joke, it has no integrity. |

i understand the Leafs own his rights. but there is an endgame to every situation. an offer sheet is not out of the question. or Franson could demand a trade at which point the Leafs are likely to just cut their losses and get rid of the player. players orchestrate their way out of town all the time. this would be another in a long line of player-organization breakups. Leafs aren't going to declare war on this guy. they'll sign him up or eventually unload him. |

perfect.. offer sheet away.. the compensation for the kind of money he wants would be more than fine by me.
the leafs have him over a barrel. they are willing to pay him a decent amount but not a horrendous one... for anyone wanting offer sheet him they will have to give him what he is looking for, which will put him into the high compensation range.
how many teams are willing to give up that many high end picks for a mid range d-man with some scoring skill?
my guess? not too many.. if any. |

Subban, Del Zotto, Couturier, Boedker, Johansson, Chris Stewart, etc....
And guys like Couture and Duchene a couple of years ago. Quite a few guys do bridge deals. If they have the confidence that they will perform than it makes sense financially.
Most of the guys that got locked in to longer term after their rookie years are either superstars or play for teams that need to lock those players up (Edmonton, NJ, Clb, Wpg).
Even if the Leafs had the Cap space I'm not convinced they wouldn't be doing the exact same thing with Franson and Kadri. Kadri has too small of a resume and Franson elected not to pursue Arb for a reason.
Just a guess but it wouldn't surprise me if Franson and the Leafs are actually pretty close on a one year deal - it makes sense for both sides. They need Kadri to come to terms first. - The Law
fair comparisons..thanks

Nah, he wants around 3.5, the leafs want him for under 3. If he were offered sheet, it would be for around 3.5 - 4....so it would be a mid 1st and a 3rd. The leafs wont let him go for that....I dont believe. |
