What does this mean, nobody wants to play in TO ? - bixll
no. it means that a lot of the middle-tier NHL is overpaid regardless of where they play, and if you're not willing to overpay for players, you're not going to have any depth. |

All he and his agent have to do is look at the comparables, is there one contract signed since the new CBA that help Nonis in his cause to sign them both for 2.5?
..so Subban. there are many others that dont help - senstroll
Subban, Del Zotto, Couturier, Boedker, Johansson, Chris Stewart, etc....
And guys like Couture and Duchene a couple of years ago. Quite a few guys do bridge deals. If they have the confidence that they will perform than it makes sense financially.
Most of the guys that got locked in to longer term after their rookie years are either superstars or play for teams that need to lock those players up (Edmonton, NJ, Clb, Wpg).
Even if the Leafs had the Cap space I'm not convinced they wouldn't be doing the exact same thing with Franson and Kadri. Kadri has too small of a resume and Franson elected not to pursue Arb for a reason.
Just a guess but it wouldn't surprise me if Franson and the Leafs are actually pretty close on a one year deal - it makes sense for both sides. They need Kadri to come to terms first. |

And, the Leafs still retain his rights, if he wants to play.. Or am I wrong ? - bixll
yessir.
here is what i think is happening. franson is willing to play on the cheap for one more year only.. the leafs want two so they dont have to add him to an already lengthy list of FAs next summer.
my guess is franson signs on the cheap for a year in the end.. and the leafs move him by the deadline |

What are these Kadri and weed references I've seen in a couple posts? Actual marijuana use or he's high for asking for the $/term that's been rumoured? Or both? |

I love how this new generation of players in the NHL is killing the integrity of the sport with it's sense of entitlement and lack of desire to win.
They want to do well to get the yacht, not to win. |

I bet Kadri signs a deal by the end of this week. The only reason he has not done so yet, is that he is using this as a way to avoid the fitness testing at the start of camp. Doesn't want any more coaches complaining about his body fat level on national tv. |

Common criticism of Gen Y'ers graduating into the work world...I read an article recently talkin gabout these kids have unrealistic salary demands coming out of school without earning it...sounds familiar. |

his options are to end his nhl career or play ball.
those are his options.
the leafs do not need point producing d-men.. if anything they have too many. - Dozzer
i promise you his career would continue somewhere else. |

What about Kadri ? - bixll
i expect he will be signed before camp.. him and his agent are playing the waiting game... they have a date set where they will fold already.. i'd put money on it.
kadri has not proven enough to sit out. he will only hurt his value in doing so |
