He's the closest thing we got.

Oilers been looking for a top center for years. He was also the consensus top pick. His skill and hockey sense is simply rare.

Also they have some pretty good wingers already.

No denying the kid has shown some briallaince but he has 76 points in 102 games . Thats is a good number not franchise numbers.

There really wasn't much debate among experts in the past couple drafts.

Last year a little with Mack and the guy who went #4

- robin_steele264

There were a ton of different scenerios 2 yrs ago. I'm not sure how Nuge is a franchise player and Gally is a chump. AG put up roughly 50 points(projected over 82 games) while getting 3rd line minutes rather then top line and pp minutes. Plus he is far more rounded then Nuge

He has not proved he is a franchise center yet. I think Edmonton hands out these titles way to easy.

with the players Edmonton has they could have 6 franchises

His numbers don't mean much to me now.

The way he plays means a lot more... Hurt last year slowed him down. But he's the next Datsyuk IMO. Very special player.

I think Calgary is doing a better job of rebuils and reset and in three years will pass us and the Oilers unless some serious shakeups. I think Edmonton is going to stay at the bottome for a few more years. Vancouver better smarten up too.

Bull he was drafted to bring in big numbers. He is a slight player so he better have the numbers because he is not going to do it defensively.

I respect your opinion always but RNH has to be an offense machine or he fails.

Wtf are you talking about Gally is a chump?

Who said that?

RNH is a very good 2-way player. If you think he's just an offensive guy you really aren't paying attention.

I like most in hockey disagree.
- Bieksa#3

I dont think this statement has any basis in fact whatsoever.

Ill agree that the haters are gonna choose the other guy no matter what though.

And no way in hell is a power forward winger more important than an elite number 1 center assuming they both fullfill potential.

Nuge's top end is higher than landys.
Both good players though. Glad we picked the nuge though

Dealing Kesler would quickly help with restocking the cupboards.

Galchenyuk is going to be All-Star material for years to come. I can't believe the kid is just 19. Then again, it amazes me at the amount of talent there is out there with respect to players who are in that particular age-group - seems to be so much more so than in the past. I suppose there is quite a lot more emphasis on training, diet, and development than was the case in the past. Still, it's ming-boggling that 18/19 year olds are capable of (and being successful) playing at such a high level in a league like the NHL

Yeah Datsyuk

How, in the hell do u come up with that comparable. Days is a big man. He is argubly the best forward in the league in his end.

That's just silly IMO. I could see him being in Selke conversations in the coming years. Just like Datsyuk. They play an incredibly similar game.

Because theyre core was 18,19,21 and two 22 year olds.
Two of them rookies.

Hall and Eberle are fantastic pieces to start after that cupboards are bare at this time. The new additions over the summer will be innteresting to see. I wish them well

This guy might know something you don't...

Ken Hitchcock: “My opinion on Nugent-Hopkins has changed … last summer I thought he reminded me of Joe Sakic, but it’s Pavel Datsyuk now. He strips people of the puck, he’s crafty in high-traffic areas, he dishes well, he’s got great patience with the puck.”

We have two very different opinions at this time. Like I said I do respect your opinion but I think you are looking at RNH with homer glasses.

First of all he needs to get more meat on his bones so he stops getting injured then we can revisit his skill.

So u agree that the only reason teams hate the canucks is because they are sick of how good Vancouver is? Because those are hitches words as well. Or are we just trying to pick and chose as we feel need be?

He's 5'11 and 190

Nuge was 6'0 and 175 at 19.

There's no definition for core.
Dude...

Its the core players of ones team that u try and build around.

Is one of seabrook or keith not the core cause theyre both dmen?
That was silly
