The other side to being a PMD is recovering the puck. You can't move it if you can't win puck battles. I'm really not sure that there is anyone on this team who can end a cycle and get the puck out as well as Phaneuf.

I know Franson is using his size a little more effectively, but how much of that was Fraser muscling guys off the puck for him?

- Leeman4Gilmour

I agree with this, and yeah Fraser was good at boxing out...funny thing with the Leafs last year is way too often they got pinned in their own zone, but on the other hand they were pretty good at boxing out rebounds....just that they wouldn't clear it, give up another shot and have to do it twice lol

I was at the game and yes Reilly was impressive and his strong skating abilities were definitely present. However there were a few times where he was caught defensively and a scoring opportunity for Chicago was the outcome. Personally the two players that impressed me the most were Percy and mckegg. Percy was calm and composed even in high pressure situations and made the safe/right play. Mckegg looked like one of the quickest players out there. Whether or not he was the fastest... He always had the wheels going and put 100% effort. Devane was also an impact player on the physical side.

if he's skating circles around everyone in his peer group how the hell do you send him back to junior? please dont compare him to schenn either. different players, different necessities
- jimi james

Why even take the slightest risk of rushing him? One more year in junior never hurt a player but bringing a guy up too early has destroyed lots of careers before they even started. He'd probably do OK in the NHL this season but with Gardiner there and Franson hopefully resigning he really isn't needed, not enough to warrant the risk. Hell, might as well give him a season in the AHL after this year.

Who?

(I will miss Frattin, but he was a necessary piece to move to bring insurance to a position that needed it.)

I still can't believe we got Finn in the 2nd round. I think Habs fans will feel that way about de la Rose & Fucale, and Sabres fans will feel that way about Compher. Finn had a shaky start to the game, but really played well as the game went along. It won't surprise me if he's the most talked about player after Rielly when this tournament is over.

All OFD get caught at times, fact of life...its how they recover and to some extent how the other D or covering winger help out

jbold, I don't like your tone. I never said we'd receive an asset but you purposely imply, on my behalf, that I did so you can use that condescending tone with me.

First of all, salary dump can be achieved by adding a draft pick in the late round and it has been done before - ie. a 5th.

Secondly, teams do deal draft picks, albeit late picks, again, for enforcers. See Montreal & Parros.

Thanks.

sooo...

for those who care, and don't have access to RogersTV, Leafs TV is replaying the Chicago game tomorrow, and then replaying the Pitts game later in the day. Then looping both endlessly for the next 24 hours

Plus replaying the Ottawa game sunday evening...

so just ignore this place and it will be like you watched it live!

Looking for a laugh, Check EK's thread about KAdri.

Oiler fan trying to tell people the cap going up 10% is 66mil.

Someone questioned him how 64+10%=66??

Oiler fan replies saying he's working 60mil cap since that's what the cap SHOULD be.

It's hilarious. He's calling people idiots and morons because they don't believe him.

Should be a bit of a rougher game tonight. The Pens/Sens game on thursday was "fight filled". And it sounds like they are looking for more from Broll, Devane, Biggs, ect..... Show them what you're all about.

Spott said he's going to put Gauthier into a more offensive role tonight. Only used him defensively, faceoffs, PK last game.

a $66 million cap is not out of the question.

Seemed like he was talking about the math. Who knows, but yea, the cap could be any number at this point. I might google this to see what the "experts" have been saying, though it would all be speculation at this point.

I'm willing to bet that Franson is looking for more than that.

And Kadri should be getting 1.8 tops?? Really based on what?? His stats are comparable to Duchene when he signed his bridge deal @3.5 mil.

- burn

Kadri is not worth anything over 2.5 - 3 max!
I love how people over value kadri so much that they are willing to believe their BS.
Duchene had already had a 67 and a 55 point season and showed he was a skilled NHL'er.
Kadri has had one decent half a half season.
Not even close

Not entirely..... that's not the point, nor is a 70mil cap. I think that is extremely low though.
