Before this year, we had drafted just once in the top 10 in the last decade. We've had plenty of good support players but no elite guys right? Well, there's your answer we just haven't sucked enough.

I've been thinking for a while that the Sabres are loading up on "effort players"....while some of them aren't going to be high-scorers, I think their idea is that their attitude should rub off on guys like CoHo and Gringo....."hey buddy, if i'm blocking shots and getting punched in the face for a lot less money than you, then you better put in a little more effort to get to the net."
....not sure if that actually works in the NHL, but I hope it does.

Agreed, it also looks like they've shifted their focus to two way talent as well (i.e Compher). I think having a balance between finesse and sandpaper is what they're going for. I hope when/if they draft top 5 soon, they opt for talent though.

i really don't pay a whole lot of attention to the prospects until they get to buffalo.. i just don't have the ability or time to watch them play otherwise. But i do understand what you are saying. i hope i am wrong but only time will tell
