Could Shero shop Pouliot for a good forward prospect? My thought was he was drafted as insurance for when Letang's deal came up. Now that Letang is signed long term, he doesn't really have a place on this team in the future, especially with Maata, Harrington, and Despres ahead of him developmently.

We never know what the future holds. Let's wait and see if Letang's game will drop on the next 2-3 years.

BTW, watching Letang's workout made me feel like I'm a slob. The guy works very very hard...

It's just hard to see a spot for him in the next 5-6 years. Letang and Despres seem to be the future of this blue line that is with the big club now, Harrington and Maata seem to impress everybody that watch them, plus they have the added bonus of having played together as a pairing for a while now. Pouliot doesn't project as a 3rd line guy, and this system needs a top tier foward prospect or 2. He has a ton of upside, i just don't think he has a place on this Pens roster in the future. Not with Letang locked up for the next 9 years.

Too early to say. Shero certainly has options if the defensive prospects all pan out. I would be very surprised if Maatta and Harrington were not productive NHL players.

If just those 3 pan out, one of them will have to be moved. Can't see any of the 3 being bottom 6 guys, and with Letang and Despres, there isn't much room in the top 4.

You are not getting paid millions of dollars to stay in shape.
