Sounded nothing like that. Feaster is the GM, Burke said it time and time again, he is not there to pull the trigger on trades or signings, he is there to help things run smoothly, he is there to add his input and to report the hockey side of things to Ken King. Ken King was doing both the hockey and business sides of things but now that Burke is in King will be handling just the business side while Burke is going to be dealing with the hockey side of things. Feaster is still the GM, Hartley is still the Coach and the scouting staff is still the same.

Burke said that he will be involved with trades and signings. What do you think him having input into those things mean?

He also said that he was going to review every prospect, player and the way they draft. He said he has a clear vision for the team and is pretty sure that Feaster see's it the same way. Sounded to me that Feaster better see it the same way.

They can give Burke any title they want but he is going to be more hands on than its lead to believe. Sure Feaster is going to have input and do the talking to the media but Burke is just as involved.

Also if Feaster and Burke do not see eye to eye on a transaction who do you think KK and Edwards are going to have more trust in?

The only way i see this working out is if Feaster says yes to most things that Burke wants.

He had to say yes to KK anyway. Better he has to say yes to BB that knows hockey...

The hiring of Brian Burke instantly gives the Calgary Flames credibility.

I wonder if they keep him on the payroll a la Tim Thomas so they stay above the cap floor?

I believe this move puts Ken King that much further away from "hockey decisions". No way will King turn down something Burke comes to him with, he simply can't go toe to toe with him on a hockey level, whereas I think with Feaster, he could more easily question his moves.

All in all a good move. Whether or not Feaster get's canned in a year or not I don't really care haha.

Feaster needs experienced input. I think that has been lacking in the front office of the Flames for a while.
- thundachunk

The only thing Feaster's assembled since taking over in Calgary is a dumpster fire. The Flames are spectacularly terrible as of right now. The sooner Burke takes over, the better.

they are going to be adding a player or two from teams trying to get under the cap...maybe take a bad contract and get something good aswell

I think this has been the plan all along, wait until teams are desperate

But when he was brought in he started a rebuild, I'm sure you know by now that rebuilds don't usually happen very fast.

apparently most people on this site think it should take 3 years MAX.

And by that you mean successfully drafted an excellent array of players that will help the rebuild start. He's moved players that needed to move and got assets that will help the team in the future. So... yeah...
