not even close.... he got fired for indiscretions with a female broadcaster and his ego/arrogance was a little more than the new regime could handle... probably more of the latter than the former, but the former was the bullet. - Rockhead_37
That's a load of crap and you better be careful saying it. |

It's still a load of crap and when the site sees it they'll delete it entirely I'm sure. Another web-site got in some hot water for allowing posters to spew this garbage. |

Down in the states watching some MLB. Just learned of this & threw up in my mouth a little bit. Honestly have no use for this pompous bag of wind and this hiring is only to deflect criticism from Ken King who is completely incompetent. Baffled but go Flames go.... I guess. |

Yeah this is what I've always figured was the real reason but, at the time he was fired you could have defended it from a hockey perspective, is what I was trying to say. |

You do realize King, for all his faults, is merely the representative of ownership right? I don't know why people don't see this. Besides, for all we know he merely represents the business side of things. |

There wee legitimate, connected reporters who claimed that Burke's firing in Toronto was mainly because he didn't get along with the board (which is plausible even without the affair rumors). the other stuff is mostly rumors, helped along by hacks like Steve Simmons. I'm not sure whether I believe it, but I don't care either way. |

800K base salary. If he hits the bonuses then he earned them. There was no overpayment. - burn So cap geek is full of s#$t then ,what is his cap hit right out of college ????

Nope, cap geek is right.... 800K....You know how to read?? |

Does everyone remember some of Burke's early press conferences in Toronto? You know... the ones where the team was really sucking and not fighting? He looked like he was going to kill someone and ended up trading away most of the team cause they sucked???
Just wait until he sees the flames play! They will be a gong show this year and are in a worse place then even the leafs were. And you can say the word 'rebuild' only a few times and then Burke will lose patience...
This is going to be very entertaining... almost as entertaining as watching Tort's implode in Vancouver (I predict at some point he will call the Sedins 'sisters')...!

You just don't get it. His Cap hit was 800k...his bonuses made it so that it could be as high as 3.7m. It wasn't since he didn't hit them. |

He had a base salary of 800k. Learn how the cap works before spouting off.

Can this be made any more simplistic? I fear he'll still not comprehend.
Besides, if he hits the bonuses then that means he's a top end scorer and earned the bonuses. If he scored enough to meet his bonuses he'd have been a bargain at 3.7mil.
The guys is clueless.
It's hilarious. He told me I'm wrong, check cap geek when I just repeated what cap geek said. So far over his head its comical |

Clueless huh, thats all you got .Do the leafs have a rosey cap picture now and moving forward ??Phaneuf and kessel are ufa,s next season ,you guys are having a hard time fitting two of your good younger players under the cap now.
Does the leafs prospect pool have enough in the system to cover the potential loss of one of the big FA ,s players next season ???Call me clueless all you want but you have a potential cap team that doesnt look like a contender. And still has many holes to fill without the luxury of having the cap space to help in this department .
To say BB didnt have a hand in this cap mess,is being clueless |

Yup, its official. No idea. - burn Deflect away ,i guess Toronto,s rebuild is done then ,BB built one hell of a expensive mid tiered playoff team ,with a thin prospect pool. That will be competitive enough to make the playoffs but wont have the cash or be able to get high enough draft picks to improve it

Deflect? Hardly. everything you've said has been proven false.
Bozak making 800k fresh out of college for 2 years, led them to overpaying him this year. Sheer genius. let's not forget that he signed another 2 year deal @1.5m after that 1st one. |

As an observer BB is not to blame for any of the cap issues that the Leafs are facing - Nonis is responsible for taking on/signing the following 5 contracts
Burke had nothing to do with
1. Clarkson UFA signing
2. Bolland Trade
3. Bernier Trade and new contract
4. Bozak Re-Signing
5. Gunnerson Re-Signing
Thats $19M in new signings that Burke had nothing to do with |
