As a resident of Connecticut... No. Please no. This state doesn't deserve a hockey team... Again. |

I hope the NHL bans these because the front is a light color and the back is a dark color. If they were the dark blue throughout with yellow just on the side and got rid of the Buffalo above the logo, those would be awesome jerseys. - rcostel77
The team does not design the jerseys . The NHL and Reebock have a team that does all jersey design . They just ask the team for input |

Not true. The team gives the general concepts, then Reebok puts them into what they think the team wants. It's a back and forth process for quite some time. Dallas had a nice write up about it.

I like 'em. Love that the front is gold and the back is blue. Has any other team ever done that ? Pretty cool idea. |

Here's the difference though, we only have to look at this once in a while. The Canes jerseys are worn all year. |

There is probably a reason no team has ever done it before. It is (frank)ing awful. Lol. |

I first saw the front and I thought it was ugly. I been back to take a couple of other looks and decided the back looks good. Had they repeated that on the front with the buffalo in yellow. I think it would have been a cool jersey. That being said Classy organizations don't need 3rd jersey's and gimmicks. I guarantee a cup win will bring in more revenue than any 3rd jersey launched ever. |

Agreed. Third jerseys are owner's idea of gauging fans for as much cash as possible. Leave it to home and away and be done with it. |

There just wasn't a reason this had to be done. They yanked the old third jersey on us without warning(I suspect Pepsi or some rights holder to that old logo was pressuring them), and they crammed this down our throat without any input or demand from the fans. Our home and away jerseys are as good as they get. We didn't ask for this. |

So what do we call this thing? How 'bout " The Cape"? How can we have one of the best Logos in the league and a great color scheme and they come up with this? It's boring ... and stupid. I guess it beats the " Slug" and " the Goat", both of which should never be mentioned again. Why didn't they just come out with the " Goat-Slug" or did they just shelve that in a meeting until a later date?
Why not just murder us all in our Fookin' Sleep! ...........How about a flying pig carrying the Stanley Cup? |

It feels like we're at a point where this team can only do wrong.
I hope they can prove otherwise during games this year. Otherwise it's going to be a long, long season. |

Darcy has no say in jersey design. The Sabres could have a legendary manger like Lou Lamoriello or Sir Alex Ferguson and this still would have been our third jersey.
I wish Regier was in charge of jerseys. I'd be willing to sport an awful jersey if it means having a great team (kinda like 07). - Sabresfan-365
I'm sure he could have stopped the Jersey if he really wanted to. Mike Keenan stopped the Blues from using a jersey by flat out refusing to dress his players in it. And he was only the coach.

Of course he could have. Anyone could have. There's a reason NJ has never had a 3rd only a throwback they've worn twice. Also why noone has done anything outrageous with Montreal, Detroit, toronto and down the line. Those teams don't want anything crazy. Either Pegula loves these, or a good number of higher ups do and talked him into being ok with it. Reebok doesn't have carte Blanche on teams and thank god. These abominations look like something left on the scrap heap from when nashville rebranded. Except for the Preds sake they had the common sense to laugh at it and move on. |

ESPN is overrated. I don't think having hockey on there at this point would really do all that much for the NHL anyway. - HonkFortheGoose
I disagree...
If only to see all the great NHL plays that would be repeated over & over on sportcenter all day long
It certainly can't hurt to have that kind of exposure
And if the NHL was on ESPN, they certainly devote A LOT more time to hockey highlites |

There's no guarantee they'd devote that much time to highlights. Look at their priorities now. The NHL is literally a smaller portion lf their te than tim tebow. They only show one NFL game a week yet their coverage of the NFL would lead you to believe they are the exclusive rights holder.
The reason the NHL balked at espn's offer coming out of the 04-05 lockout was because they got no assurance the league would get coverage beyond the broadcast of games. Comcast gives the league pregame postgame and other programming throughout the week espn never would. ESPN wanted to show game 7 of the finals on espn 2 if they thought they could put something more popular on espn. The nhl was completely right in saying no to espn. Between the rise in networks like NBCSN, FS1, CBSSN, and the individual leagues on networks, Espn's clout has gone way down.
The nhl is far better off being NBC/comcast's top priority than ESPN/ABC's 5th or 6th priority. |
