I didn't realize the Leafs were rebuilding. I thought they made the playoffs with one of the NHLs youngest teams. Silly me. It's an old team that's peaked.

He seems like a private person, I'd say he signs in the USA, something like St Louis, they have tons of cap space for 2014/15.

At this point I'd just panic, no need to make rash decisions. Continue with the rebuild and you'll be fine.

There are players all throughout the league who take less to ease their team's cap issues. The most shining example is Sidney Crosby, who could have asked for the moon and gotten it. Like the poster said, if it's really that important to play for the Leafs, he could do them a small favor and only make several millions of dollars instead of more millions of dollars. I know he'd be hard set to feed his family and all, but take the millions of dollars for 1 year, and if you play like you're expected to, then you make more millions of dollars.
