You mean like in March when he was around a PPG pace?
- systemtool

Was March when the REAL NHL players were back in Game shape?

How about from say 35 games in, once all the rest of the league rounded into mid-season form, and Kadri faded away...

Yes, he has shown all of that over a period of almost two months
So he must be able to do it all the time!

Oh no...nevermind....he didn't last year.

- Fakepartofme

potential.

also stated, that with time he will aquire consistency, confidence etc.

and yes he did show he does have the potential to be a prime time player.

kadri hasnt proven poop

he got the majority of his points while his legs were in midseason form and when the veterans of the league caught up conditioning wise kadri's production tallied right off.

he needs to prove he can do it when everyone is starting from the same spot.

- Dozzer

he has proven he has the potential to be a big time player, as witnessed off and on over the past couple seasons.
he will be paid for that and nothing more.....

interesting,
Good response.

It does not change the fact that he had big success against guys way out of game shape.

It might explain it a little bit though.

... but it definitely means there is at least a question about his ability to produce consistently at the NHL level.

you should check the stats.. he had 8 points in the last 19 games

that means in the first 29 games he had 36

PPG til end of march (first 29 games): 1.241 PPG

just 3 games after mid season (last 19 games): 0.421 PPG

and this is why he is barely worth 3 million. he hasnt proven crap

EDIT: sorry this came off as if i was disagreeing.. only trying to reinforce

Exactly.

I would also argue that Subban had already proven more than Kadri whenhe signed his bridge deal.

If Kadri is so damn sure of his ability, I don't understand the reluctance to sign a short-term contract. It could be much better for him in the long run.

I agree that he did fade off, as always, there are likely several reasons why, and facing stiffer competition is likely one of the biggest...also, he did not show a whole lot in the 1st round, but also did not look out of place in the 1C role in game 6 and 7.

I just think that if the Leafs play hard ball now, the likelihood of him signing an extension later is going to be greatly diminished. Especially if he does live up to the potential.

Yes...but...

Kadri 7th overall, Subban 43rd overall...so...Kadri $ > Subban $

meh, he will still be a RFA. The team will have to make a good offer and the player will get market value.

subban is so cocky/confident he believed he was gonna be paid like a champ next contract because he would give the habs management no choice....and that is exactly what he is going to do.
Rather than a 4.5milliom, 4-5 year deal, he will get his 3mill, 2 year deal plus a 6 year 7.5 million deal......
Kadri should show he believes in himself as much as he talks.
