Kadri gets the Subban bridge contract topping out at 3 mil/season and that has to be where it ends for the Leafs.. I can't see the management team giving into his demands or signing him to a long term deal on such a small sample. Either way it's all posturing until camp opens then he will sweat it out.
Franson is a bit tougher to determine... definitely not worth 4 per season but 3.5 X 3? Sure.
The Leafs need to make cap space though no matter what Poulin is trying to convince us of. |

here's the beauty of the situation
the only leverage these guys have is what they bring to the team. other than that.. they have nothing, nadda, zippo. they are negotiating from a point of weakness.
all the leafs have to do is shrug their shoulders and say.. ok.. we'll go forward without ya.. enjoy sitting or europe.
end of negotiations. |

Oh for sure... and they're good players and could be very good players for the Leafs this season but lets all be honest folks neither is going to be a big difference maker this year. |

hell.. even if they would be difference makers they are simply not in a position to demand anything if Nonis has the brass to go forward without them
if Nonis stands strong.. they either sit, or take whats offered. there is nothing more to it. The only way they get more is if Nonis folds for whatever reason. |

Gunnerson puts up nealy double the pts and plays against the other teams top players.
And makes a mil less, I'd say he's a bargain |

thing is.. in order for him to be signed away the salary would have to be high enough where first round picks become involved.
actually for both him and franson
so yeah.. you wont see an offer sheet |

anyone who still thinks that kadri hasn't shown enough to prove he has the potential to be a number one center is just plain silly.
consistency, confidence, defensive awareness all come with maturity/time.....unfortunately, with his whining and frustration shown through various interviews and tweets, kadri has once again proven maturity is not one of his strong points. - Barx
Yes, he has shown all of that over a period of almost two months
So he must be able to do it all the time!
Oh no...nevermind....he didn't last year. |

kadri hasnt proven poop
he got the majority of his points while his legs were in midseason form and when the veterans of the league caught up conditioning wise kadri's production tallied right off.
he needs to prove he can do it when everyone is starting from the same spot. |
|
|
|
I like the Chicago signing of Niklas Hjalmarsson worth $20.5 million over 5yrs.
Good for the leafs as I see him and Franson in the same catagory for D-men. |

Oh I agree.
I must not have put the sarcasm font on my previous post.
I completely agree Kadri hasn't proven crap!
Well except that he is pretty good on the shoot out. |

not even.. Hjalmarsson actually plays this season for 3.5million.. his 7th contractual season. the 4.1million figure you are talking about doesnt start til AFTER next season
which is where franson should be roughly, at 3.5million. he is just now heading into his 7th season. |
