I wonder how much longer this has to drag out before Nonis starts working the phones.

Subban was being rumored available as early as the 2012 draft.

Trade him to Colorado for Stastny+, where he'll be buried in their system as a #3C at best. See what that does to his long term earning potential...

I think that certain players should change or be able to change their jersey numbers so they're taken more serious. You may not believe that it matters much, but if you've ever been on a team and they just hand you a number because you're not an established player it sucks. And when you're wearing those designated numbers, people mostly think of you as a spare player, not that good, etc. For the Leafs, they throw all the 40's-50's at their young guys, Bozak 42, Kadri 43, Fraser (45), Komarov 47, Gardiner 51, Holzer 55....give the guys a choice of different numbers so it doesn't look like a team of scrubs. It's like the equivalent of a wide receiver wearing like 60 or something. Change Bozak's number for starters, he shouldn't be wearing a plug number when he's supposed to be our #1 centerman. #12 or something. Same goes for Kadri. Maybe 91 like he wore in junior.

Bozak wearing #12 would be a slap in the face to all the great ex- Leafs of the past that wore that number proudly... Guys like Laurie Boschman, Brandon Convery, Kris King and the great Tim Connolly would all put a hex on the Leafs organization

Nobody has a job without customers. Keeping the fans happy is the teams job, winning hockey games is the players job. They sort of go hand in hand, but Kadri isn't crossing any lines or doing anything unjust by not signing the contract fans want him to sign.

- systemtool

I agree with your main argument, but most fans only want him to sign a reasonable contract. Sure Kadri can be as unreasonable as he likes, it's his contract, it's perfectly within his rights to demand Tavares type money.

However bad contracts do make fans turn on players! Jason Blake was a good player that gave 110% every night, had a first class attitude and could score, and we were happy to see him go. Komi could have made it a 6-7 defenseman, if he was getting paid 1-2 million he would have been a good depth player. If Kadri signs long turn and struggles the Toronto media will be all over him, it could really hurt his career.

Contracts are generally deemed "good" or "bad" depending on the players performance. If Kadri struggles, he is only hurting his own career.

They owe the fans respect. Not money. The fans fork over their money to watch them and the players who are good enough get to live out their dream and earn millions. Players who were all once fans.

Without the fans their skills would be useless.

Can we move on now or are you still stuck?

- robin_steele264

I'm still confused as to where there was disrespect??? Did I miss KAdri doing "woes me" routine during the lockout??? Flashing pic of his Lambo??? Posing in Vegas with wads of cash??

I don't see any disrespect??

Yet Sundin owed Leaf fans to waive his no trade.

Always hilarious in here.

A NHL player represents his sport, his team and his city. Wether he likes it or not. A guy acts like an idiot he's gonna get crapped on. Look at Seguin. Kane... Both of them Malkin recently.

I care how the Oilers players conduct themselves on and off the ice. Most fans do, and most players respect that as they should.

- robin_steele264

I agree. But where is the so called disrespect here??

Conduct themselves as NHL players off the ice.

Lots of teams require their players to do a lot more than simply play hockey. They are role models and they have to attend public events, visit hospitals, play a part in the community.

Like the Leafs???

I'm making a much bigger point than Kadri's contract.

But I think he would benefit from not pissing off his own fans

Does any of the Kadri contract talk bother you? When, only a few days after he said, he won't talk about it, he talks about it......

Radulov and Tithead suspended in the playoffs for acting like idiots off the ice.

They didn't act like NHL players off the ice.

- robin_steele264

And drunk Radulov was still their best offensive player by far Got stripped of his captaincy in the K for cocaine use.

The funny thing is, it's not just Bobby Mac. It's Dreger too. Also, other media personnel like Jonas Siegel and James Mirtle.. The kid should just shut up and take it.
