Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 34m
As long as TOR holds firm on wanting 2 yr bridge deal, Kadri has no leverage other than witholding services and hoping his absence impacts.
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 32m
Failing that, Kadri makes case for closer to Matt Duchene $ ($3.5M per) than P.K. Subban $ ($2.875M per). We'll see if TOR moves off that #. #Bobo - Symba007

Kadri rattled Bobby Mac, this should get good. Not since Dregerface has the TSN panel been this fun. |

Who cares about smarter. He'll be richer, and since he owes us, that has to be the most important factor in all this. |

Until the hilarity of you thinking NHL players owe you something wears off, I can't let it go. Especially the defensive tone of your responses, which is just encouraging me more. |

They owe the fans respect. Not money. The fans fork over their money to watch them and the players who are good enough get to live out their dream and earn millions. Players who were all once fans.
Without the fans their skills would be useless.
Can we move on now or are you still stuck?

Again, they owe us nothing. Just like we owe them nothing.
In addition, the fans are not being disrespected just because there is a contract dispute.
Oh Robin, you can move on anytime you want. You don't need my blessing. |

I agree with Robin in the sense as the customers(like in any business) we deserve a certain modicum of respect out of business (players, owners, league representatives). They would not make a living without the customers (fans). I don't think they owe us everything but having a job that's based on fans they def should consider us in certain situations not necessarily contract negotiations. |

Yet Sundin owed Leaf fans to waive his no trade.
Always hilarious in here. |

This should be no different than any other business, and the players shouldnt have to act any different than any other employee, regardless of their salary. When the players are on the ice for a game, which is what they are paid for, then of course they should show the fans (their costumers) respect. Off the ice, it's up to them to act how they see fit. Im not saying they should all be jerks, but they should be free to act how they wish when they're not at work as long as they aren't breaking laws or hurting others.
Just about all employees wouldn't be making a living without their customers, so I don't see how this makes them more in debt to their costumers than any other walk of life. Most of these guys already donate to and promote charitable causes of their own volition anyways. The biggest factor in all this though is that fans are not being disrespected by Kadri just because he's in a contract dispute, or a dispute of the facts with a media member. |

A few fans thought so. Many didn't. I wanted him to retire a Leaf to be honest. A good portion of the fan base wanted him to waive it, but didn't actually feel it was owed to us. By "in here", did you mean Strombo's twitter? |

There is lots of companies out there that expect their employees to act a certain way when in public. Yes Kadri being in a contract dispute is not disrespectful. |

It's pretty hard to compare an NHL player to just any employee out there but i don't think he has to disclose any of his contract information. He should really just stay out of it completely in a public sense.

A NHL player represents his sport, his team and his city. Wether he likes it or not. A guy acts like an idiot he's gonna get crapped on. Look at Seguin. Kane... Both of them Malkin recently.
I care how the Oilers players conduct themselves on and off the ice. Most fans do, and most players respect that as they should.

You gonna be alright with it if all the Leaf players party every night and show up to work hungover? Cuz that happens at tons of workplaces. |

Be it players or fans, NOBODY owes anyone anything! All this talk of "respect" and "courtesy" in here is a (frank)in' joke.
This is B-U-S-I-N-E-S-S and these are N-E-G-O-T-I-A-T-I-O-N-S... Anyone who thinks that feelings are being considered here is clearly out to lunch.
Much like the CBA, both parties will hold out until the 11th hour in an effort the gain any leverage they can on an approximate that could have been made weeks/months ago. |

I agree. His agent should be telling him to keep his mouth shut pubicly about it, which he should know himself already.
It is hard to compare them, but nobody owes their customers anything when they're not at work. Whether work is a rink, grocery store, an office or coffee shop. |

Great interview, and you know what, Poulin is a hundred percent right. At the end of the day its hockey, anything can happen, those who truly want it, will play for it, and thats what it is. If Naz can't play without having an ice rink in his basement at home, then sit at home. Love the guy, he's a phenomenal talent, but hey, if you wanna sit out, sit out. Earn your respect, show the team you can do it again. Honestly, if you're so confident to demand what John Tavares makes, sign a 1 year deal for less, and prove that you're worth it. Man up buddy. - Rysko81
This.
Naz is a talented kid and a very important player for us, but he's coming out looking like a punk in most of these tweets. He'll play hard ball until he realizes the Leafs aren't caving. Then he'll cave. |
