what if a guy is hurt and misses a few games but doesn't go on IR? then what? and if a guy does go on IR, then what? you call up a guy who hasn't even practiced with the team and toss him into the lineup cold? what if there's a pregame injury and the Leafs are in Edmonton and the Marlies are in Oklahoma? just too many scenarios where they could get into trouble for it to be anything other than a last-resort short-term decision.

they wouldn't have to go down to 20 very long, the odds of even getting through camp without a single player on injured reserve are minimal if say a JVR or a JML are injured to start the season the leafs can put them on IR and would be fine to carry 21 or 22 from then on. In the unlikely chance that they find themselves down to 19 so what, the leafs usually roll 3 lines anyway, J-Mcclement goes up to the third line and and each center other center plays an extra 2 minutes that night. The only way this becomes a problem is if we loose Phaneuf in the morning skate while the marlies are more than a 2 hour flight away.

Not in the slightest. I'm a fan, but it's already been proven to me that my life is fine without hockey. I don't have a million dollar career riding on it.

Players owe everything to the fans. Media brings the game to us. Players not respecting or having time for either can go do something else.

McKenzie is reporting what he heard based on an issue Kadri would have more knowledge and information on. Just because a reporter passes on information, it doesn't mean he shouldnt own up to it if that information is wrong or inaccurate.

While I think Kadri is being a bit of a poon about all this, he still is more qualified to make comments and announcements on his negotiations than a guy not in the loop personally.
