BAHAHA did you watch the games?
24 shots for the habs to 4 for the sens in the first and the habs are down 2-1 in game 1. its called a goalie stood on his head and the habs tender was shaky. that was pretty much every game...
if you think for a minute, the time the habs went to ecf riding halak was because the habs were better than the caps and pitts then you dont know hockey. the sens were the habs of 09. if anything the habs losing this year is just karma. - munky123
In game 1, Ottawa was up 1-0 after 1 period, and the shots on goal was 14-12 for Mtl. In the second period, Mtl outshot Ott 27-7, but also outscored Ott 2-0 in the period. Ott outscored Mtl in the third 3-0 and outshot Mtl 12-9.

In game 3, Ottawa was up 2-1 after 2 periods, and the shots on goal at that time was 23-21 Mtl.

My Canucks keep using the "we need to learn how to lose before we win" excuse way too often. |

not saying it cuz im a fan but Tampa bay lightning have everything on this list `100% - RileyB77
I don't necessarily agree or disagree, but remember, this is just a makeshift list of some stuff that may help win.
One of the traits I liked about your new goalie Bishop is his composure, especially during the shootout. I think TB is better today then they were before Bishop. TB could be what the Sens were 2 years ago. Time will tell. |

youre right, i did exaggerate it a bit, but the point was not in those specifics per-say but in the greater outlook of the series. i didnt agree with forbetter's statement that the sens were the better team that series. ultimatlely to the letter, they were, they advanced, but i think that it was largely a halak type of series victory.
nothing wrong with it, i was cheering for halak in 09, but in no way do i think the habs were the better team in taking down pitts or the caps. we did certain things better, but mannn... so many times i had that, how the (frank) are we still here moments! same for the sens this series this year. opportunistic and a solid team unit with beyond incredible GT'ing! spectacular series victory. |

1. The ability to score on 3, if not 4 lines
2. Forwards who can and will punish opposing defensemen over the course of a series and playoffs
3. Health, energy and depth, especially on your own blueline
4. A good to very good goalie who will not lose games for you. If you have a great defense, that's usually all he has to do.
5. Big time players with a killer instinct. Guys who come up big in big situations.
6. At least 1 (preferably PK) if not 2 very good special teams
7. Luck
A handful of teams have all of these qualities to some degree. Chicago has the most of number 5. if they can remain healthy this year, they might well come out of the West again, because they were that much better than everyone else last year and didn't lose much in the offseason.

Another trait should be, stay positive and never give up. The Pesky Sens lived this all last year, until Pittsburgh when our then Captain made a not so positive comment about his team's chances. We always believed, no matter how far we were down going into the third period, we had a chance to come back. The other team would get defensive. Our guys would keep attacking. Our goaltending would step it up a notch.
We know what happened to Toronto, to Montreal, to Ottawa, to Pittsburgh, and finally to Boston. The tides turns quickly sometimes, and if you are on your heels, bad things happen. |

Related to #2, but not exactly the same thing, because it relates to other parts of the game other than the forecheck. A team has to withstand and stand up to physical pressure. Many of us on the Hawks board thought they lacked toughness, but they brought it in spades in the playoffs. LA, Detroit and Boston all challenged them physically, but they never shied away from it. |

this. high Corsi which strems from puck possession. teams that have puck shoot more and get shot on less = success.
single biggest factor in winning is puck possession. |

They may do some surprising. A team totally decimated by injury last year. Some interesting kids mixed with the veterans who've won. Markstrom is the key to an up or down season. |

Eklund: The Ten Factors a Team Must Possess to Win a Cup. Who has them? - Eklund
You forgot perhaps the most important factor: LUCK
The best team in the league could have 2 players injured the last week of the season and then lose 2 or 3 more in the first round. Oh well, season over. Most years there are 6 to 8 teams with a legitimate shot to win the Cup, the key is staying healthy for 4 rounds! |
|
|
|
1. Tell me your addition or subtractions to the list.
2. What team or teams do you feel possess the most factors on this list?
1. Subtract 29 other teams
