I look forward to the roast every year, but this one was nothing short of awful. They couldn't get Schumer or Jeselnick? WTF. That dais was terrible. Samberg ,Silverman and even Seth Rogen as a host were terrible. Reminded me of the situations time on the roast.

Rogan just isn't that funny as a comedian IMO. He's a character guy who plays the party animal well. Beyond that he offers nothing. Hill was 'okay' but everyone else was just dead.

Agreed, though I think two things that killed DP were his refusal to follow directions and bad coaching. Another issue I've always suspected with DP is he's simply unable to track pucks. Some guys, while possessing good eyesight by eye chart standards, don't track moving objects as well. I've always suspected that DP's seemingly turrets-like squinting may have indicated something more at play. Most of his big saves always seemed telegraphed to me while he often lost pucks from 25 feet out or further. I'll let Poulin have an actual full season with the team before judging if he's NHL material.

Yeah, he had a way of making routine saves look hard. I chalked it up to him trying to be flashy. Pucks hitting the goalie in the chest don't make highlight reels.

I'm not sure he had issues tracking pucks. I would hope the scouts would be able to weed those guys out in juniors. I think it was more of him trying to do too much. IMO he was looking to make a breakout pass instead of concentrating on making the save.

Dps rebound control was one of his biggest negatives imo. Poulin seems to have that same problem. Hopefully he has improved on that. He needs to play a "safe" game this season.

I've always told my defensemen that goals off of rebounds are on them. While a goalie needs to learn to steer shots, if teams are constantly banging home rebounds, it means the defense isn't doing their job in clearing the dirty areas and finding the puck.
If I had a nickel for every time a player would skate into our zone, pull up early and go cross slot and fire a wrister from 30 feet out over DP's glove as he knelt motionless with his glove upright, I'd purchase this team

Remember, DP was not in juniors and had little to no scouting since he came straight from his freshman year in college.

Don't remind me. I won't miss that uneasy feeling DP gave me when he was in net. Urgh. Some interesting trade proposals on Dee's thread

It's OK. He's gone now. You will win the bet against X and everything will be fine.

I don't remember the bet. Was it DP getting signed by an NHL team? What's the dispute?

The bet was he needs to play for an NHL team and see the ice at least one time in a regular season game. It has suddenly turned into any professional league anywhere in the world . That was not the bet

Yeah man. He's going to be the best captain this team has seen in a long time.

Funny how the fortunes of a team will rely somewhat heavily on the back-up goaltender. I agree, Poulin must be good this year and must play 30 games minimum. Below average and playing 10-15 games this season will not cut it. His future is on the line. If he plays well, he has a chance to be a #1 here. If not, he's a candidate to be traded or released at the end of the year and will have to start over in another organization.

What about our coaching staff? Are they "Under" Pressure to show improvement or exceed last years' accomplishments? How long IS Cappy's current contract?

Was just reading Ek's new post about 10 things needed to be a cup contender.
We're missing a minimum of 4 of his key components. Also, Dee announced Garth will be doing an interview with WGBB, I think on Friday? You can tweet questions. We need answers. Good day.
