but yea, feel free to keep laughing about a deal that was made how long ago? at least the leafs got a forward who looks to be a regular top 10-15 scorer every year. seguin clearly has issues or he wouldnt have been traded from boston, and hamilton still hasnt shown much to be impressed about (there is a reason why he was scratched in favor of guys like krug and bartkowski in the playoffs. maybe in a few years he will be a stud but right now the leafs won that trade, plain and simple. if seguin lights it up in dallas and hamilton becomes a top 2 dman then sure the leafs got destroyed. again, the leafs got a quality asset in return, so i dont see why this is so funny. look at how awful gillis has been, his drafting has been pretty bad too.

Well said RR. Remember, Kessel's 1st 3 seasons with an inferior Leaf team, he scored 30 plus goals in each season. Not to mention 20 goals in 48 games last season. All 4 seasons mind u WITHOUT a true #1 center, Despite he's all obstacles faced since arriving in TO, the guy has produced big time.

The reason he didn't have his one true #1 center is because Burke traded away all of your draft picks. For the wrong kind of player, a very good player, but the wrong kind. Kessel is a finsher' the kind of player you get to complete your team, not the kind of player you start your team with. Especially if you have to trade what they did. I like Kessel as a player, but it was the wrong trade at the wrong time for the wrong player.

Right now Kessel is better. Why would their overall careers matter? When the Leafs first got Kessel people said Burke should have just signed Cammelari as a UFA because he's better than Kessel. How is that thought process working out now?

Please tell us what #1 centre of a draft pick Burke traded? He didn't.

The best centre out of players Burke drafted and traded is Kadri,(Apparently he did not trade all his draft picks) who @ 22 last season had 44 points in 48 games. Counting out Kadri as a #1 centre at this point is extremely premature.

And the Leafs future looks fine starting with Kessel.

You Toronto fans live in something of a bubble. This did not come out of nowhere with Beauchemin. He was an outstanding defenseman for Anaheim for a few years before joining the Leafs. Was a huge part of their Cup win in 2007. He wasn't the greatest in Toronto because he played for a lousy team with lousy players and lousy coaching.
