If there was no lockout and he hadnt left to the KHL, he would be closing in on 2000 points.

But he did leave for the KHL, and that's why this poll is probably closer than it should be based on talent alone. You have to take the whole package with Jagr - good and bad.
When Jagr was 35, he left for a giant payday in the KHL and was a shred of his former self after he returned.
When Selanne was 35+, he put up two 90+ point seasons, three 80+ point seasons, two 40+ goal seasons, and three 30+ goal seasons. And he won a cup.
For the first few seasons of their respective careers, Selanne>Jagr.
In their prime, Jagr>Selanne.
From 35 onwards Selanne >>> Jagr. And he's still playing at 43, a full two years longer than Jagr.
