Did first overall picks have anything to do with those cups? |

Hmmm, so in comparison to that Edmonton is great at missing the playoffs, picking first overall, and again.......not making the playoffs?
I know which option I'd take, not to mention the fact that we have not even gotten into the city bashing yet - Whiskey-Tango
Sure I'd rather have Vancouver's recent "success" over Edmonton's. I'd rather have Edmonton's overall history, and current roster than Van's. 1st overalls or not, Edmonton is on the rise, Van is on the fall |

ask pittsburgh and chicago how they feel about getting high picks. the difference is that they both created well balanced teams. the oilers are high on top end potential and everyone else is absolutely terrible. i don't even know how some of them get a job in the AHL. |

Nope.
Have Kessler, burrows, sissies, luongo, etc done anything for any cup? Or just the same as those 1st overall picks?

okay. not totally fair. pittsburgh and chicago are also destinations for UFA's which helped them.
i said this in a previous post but get rid of Lowe and the Oilers turn the corner. |

They also started with a lot of good pieces before the slew of high picks. So expecting Edmonton to follow the exact same path to the cup is ridiculous. |

actually chicago was awful as was pittsburgh. they made good trades and good signings.
the risk with a young team is that you don't surround them with vets to learn from and all they do is learn to lose. the isles suffer from this and the oil are following that same path. it's been several years now and they still have not added a single top 6 established forward to help the kids. this year is the first year they've done something right on D by getting Ference who will be a great addition.

Agree. Winning vets is what helps. Guys like Ference and Recchi were very helpful when Boston's core was younger and less experienced. |

he'll be team canada's turbo rat in the olympics. no way you can't bring bergeron and marchant to russia after their playoff performances the last few years. they just show up. all the talk about nash, thornton, carter, richards makes me puke. |

should things get dicey? This is how I know you make poop up. There is a mutual agreement between the Canucks and the Sedins to get a deal done before the start of the season and all indications are that it is just a matter of when not if..... |

Vanishes when it matters most. I would even consider him period IMO.
EDIT: Marchand is such a pest. I can understand the frustration. I would hate his guts if he was wearing any other laundry. However for a tournament I would seriously consider him even though you can measure it, he pots some clutch goals when it counts. Bergeron is the same guy night in/night out. Works and plays his ass off, great leader, penalty killer, has scored some clutch goals himself. |

Still think NYR made a grave mistake trading away Gaborik. Happy to see him go. He (frank)ing kills Boston. (frank)er... |

of course but you can't argue with the fact the sabres make sense. they already have erhoff and coho and the canucks have shown that they can take the bruins to at least 7 games so pegs gets at least a few home playoff games. you also can't argue with the fact the blues make sense. hitch has a raised hitch over luongo - always had - and he'd be part of that deal as well since the blues have all sorts of cash lying around. |
