Completely off topic: Finally saw the movie "Goon".

I think it might be the worst hockey movie ever.

6'3 is average i think these days. 6'4-6'8" is the new breed.
- hammarby31

The only goalies top of my head I can think of who are over 6'3" are Rinne, Lindback, Bishop, and Dubnyk. I'm sure I'm missing a few.

Think of everything that had to happen for this movie to be made. Someone had to say "Hey let's make a movie about a great monkey, hockey player!"

Then several people from friends, actors, agents, movie executives and more would have to say "Hey, that's a great idea!"

It's sad but true that NHL teams leaguewide more or less have adopted a "small goalies need not apply" policy these days. Wasn't even all that long ago that there were still plenty of smaller goalies in the NHL (think Hasek, Richter, Vanbiesbrouck, Belfour, even tiny little Arturs Irbe) but they've largely become a dying breed in the NHL. Tim Thomas was a recent throwback-like exception, both for his height and, um, "conditioning" as well as a rather old-school style of making saves.

I liked it, but you have to take it for what it is. It's not really a "hockey movie", in that it makes no attempt to accurately portray what it is like to play hockey or be part of a hockey team. Much the same way a movie like Airplane does not offer an accurate portrayal of airline pilots. Yet both movies are pretty funny in my opinion.

Expect an even bigger year for Taylor Leier with Portland. Hope to catch some of those games.

Steve Mason is 6'4". Luongo is listed at 6'3" on ESPN, but I've seen him at 6'4" elsewhere

Am I the only one on here who around this time plans out his season? Buys center ice, NHL14 and what games he's gonna go see live? There is always a lot of money going out for me around this time.
